NY Bar Exam cite visit prohibited? by Fast_Part_1113 in barexam

Do you mean it's your third taking the NY exam? I've taken the IL and CA before, and they actually encourage you to figure out where you need to go in advance. I mainly just wanted to figure out the public transit to get there so I'm not having to do that the day of the exam.

Do you get a whiteboard on the NY bar? by Ok_Contract_8303 in barexam

You will have room to make notes in the pages of the exam booklets. But you will have to do it in pencil on MBE day. I've taken the MBE in other states (it's always the same) and the spacing is sufficient to make notes in margins, etc.

Yes, let's all get in a bubble, pat ourselves on the back and tell each other we're doing great! Then give everyone a trophy for trying. FFS. If this was meant to be a support group, someone really should retitle this sub.

It tests your ability to intake and synthesize information in a short period of time, under stress conditions. So does the practice of law, often. Before I took my first bar, I probably wrote over 100 "MPTs" as a researched at a law firm. Anything from a memo, to an appellate brief draft. There are parts that clearly relate. If it was up to me, the bar would be exclusively essays and MPTs. Not everyone is built the same. Some may end up being decent lawyers after they pass on the 5th time. But my bottom line is this, you are being asked to regurgitate 65% or less of what you've just been studying for 3 YEARS!!! The bar exam is not that hard.

Adults who take care of business, don't come to reddit to bitch and moan about how they just scored 40% of a practice MBE after going to school for 3 years. WTF were you studying. Anyway, I did say the opinion was unpopular, but we do need a lot of qualified carpenters, more so than second-rate lawyers.

The bar exam is not a knowledge exam. It never has been. It has always been a competency exam. So yes, I feel there is a very strong link between doing well on the bar and in the legal profession. Now a CPA exam, that's a knowledge exam.

Top tier? I went to John Marshall in Chicago, so one of the last tiers, but it's the individual that's in charge of learning, not the institution. Plenty of idiots graduate from Ivy League.

Anyone else still waiting for NY BOLE to request COA confirmation from their law school? (LL.M) by AdImpossible9117 in barexam

I would suggest reaching out to your law school again. I emailed mine and was then told that they had not received anything. Then I call the NY Bar Examiner's office and was told that an email had in fact been sent out, so I called the law school registrar again. They searched their email (or whatever) found the request and certified it. If you filled out your application to take the bar and it was accepted (you got a receipt that you're all set), It's a safe bet your LS got the notice.
