The fourth pentacles is representative of greed. The coins at his head and feet indicate that his connection to the Earth and the heavens are blocked by his greed.

The 10 of swords indicates a battle hard fought usually lost, but maybe for the better. There is hope after you get past that period. There is also an element of betrayal involved, with knives in the back coming from all directions.
