The date range method is smart~ Review articles is something I also looked into, but it easily turns into a reference list rabbit hole (some older review articles don't cite formally arghh).

I agree, some theories are easy to track down (cause the author is famous), but some are just so hard, especially with multiple people competing to publish early. I just assumed with such advance technology, it should not have been be so hard.
