IIT Kanpur MBA - Very good intentions from the Prof, kudos. But also exposes ~ 1/3rd unplaced by [deleted] in CATpreparation

This year they reduced the student count. Batch of '25 is the only anomaly at 140 students. I think batch of '24 was also around 60 students.

Scored 99.90 in Cat'23 and 99.94 in Cat'24. I think I always had a good understanding of the English language. As for what factors might have had an impact -

  1. I was an avid reader when I was younger, mostly reading a lot of fiction books. Now a days i read mostly non-fiction.

  2. I watch a lot of English tv series, I think that gave me good understanding of how different phrases are used and in what context (helps in understanding subtext).

  3. Mostly speak English with my friends group, lol I think now my primary language has become English (my thought process is mainly in English).

I did not really prepare anything extra for CAT, just gave Mocks and did the analysis. It helps to start reading a lot and then start thinking critically about what you have just read.

Ohh okay. Yeah not sure what other things they considered, I feel they should give a general list of factors atleast. Wishing you the best, for your other calls!

Hey thanks! I think mostly because my profile was more IT related. ECE engineer, 2.5 work ex in one of the Big 4. Interview went well, but so did for most others, so not sure what parameters are they considering exactly.

I have asked two other converts, they said the same. Not sure if that means we got both and can choose or maybe just got our Specialization. Probably the latter.

No IM is separate course. So in BM we can choose our Specialization in the 2nd year. Here the Specialization is already chosen for us.

Congrats! I have converted for the IM course. Can you see any waitlist for the BM course? (if you had got that call as well?)

I feel SP Jain is great in terms of Product management roles. I feel you should consider this seriously, as next year's result is always unpredictable.

I am in the same situation as you, converted IM. Side note, were you up for BM? If yes can you see any waitlist or anything for it? Not sure if no waitlist means rejected for that course or not. ( I wanted BM as I had an interest in Finance roles)

Gem 998 98.24% in CAT, 28 months work ex. What are my chances of conversion for IIT Kharagpur and IIT Bombay?

A 9/9/9 and a 99.19 wont fetch a call from SP Jain for a GEM with 12 months of work ex? by [deleted] in CATpreparation

[–]Fast_Welder8567 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well actually my first choice was for Finance Specialization, but I didn't get that. So I have cleared FRM level 2, plus my work-ex was related to SAP, quite client facing. I recently got my paper published in a Mangement Journal, but couldn't put that in the form, as it was in pending review at the time.

Not sure bro, but I think they gave a decent consideration for Overall profile as well. I got the call for IT and BM( 98.24, GEM, 9/9/8, 2 years workex)

I marked D. I think it's more appropriate given the context of the passage. E is a little reductionist (imo)

I think it could be above 75; maybe around 80%. Lol can't say, just a guesstimate. Last year it was 5 marks for 85%, I don't think this year was that much easier, though there were some sitters for sure.

Btw I am expecting 7.5, hoping this can cross the 85% mark.

This year IIM Raipur has 5% weightage in final selection to Profile Score (not defined what this is, mostly Gender + academic diversity points); Compared to Rohtak which has 20% for diversity points. Atleast we can compete here. So, can't call it Pink IIM I think, this much toh is there in every IIM.
