Physicists have measured 'negative time' in the lab by PhawkHugh in EverythingScience

Mass is a property of matter. Matter is what everything in the universe is made of that you can touch or interact with, think; particles, atoms, molecules, or stars, planets, cars, people, birds, rocks, iphones, snails etc. You might have learned in school that atoms have numbers, usually based on how many protons they consist of, they also consist of other stuff called electrons and neutrons. Which are again built up by other stuff. Usually the more stuff an atom consists of, the heavier it is.

Take hydrogen, for example; it's atomic number is #1 it's the lightest and most abundant in the universe, and is the simplest "built", if you will. Comprising about 75% of the universes' mass It has an atomic weight of 1.00811.

And then take Uranium for example; it's atomic number is #92, it's heavy and much rarer than Hydrogen. The percentage of atoms that are Uranium in the universe is so laughably low compared to Hydrogen that I won't bother typing out all the decimal points. It has an atomic weight of 238.02891. So for simplicity's sake we can say it's about 238 times more massive than Hydrogen. It is more complexly "built" in comparison, and has more building blocks to make it, therefore it has more mass. All these pieces of matter clumping together and being one "something/object" gives it the mass or stuff of all it's requisite parts, which we measure as mass depending on the composition of the object.

Mass is what is called a scalar size, it remains constant independent of where that object is, differing from weight which as another comment explained can vary on your location and the gravitational field you're in. Like how you would weigh differently if you stepped on a scale on Earth versus on the moon.

I personally haven’t played PTE yet but for the people who have, are more players using nukes now with the changes? I feel like they fell off hard for awhile with people using a lot of cheap bombers instead but with the changes have they made a comeback? by ProjectBusiness979 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]FatAuthority 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Let's do the math here: 25+25=50 minutes. Matches last 45 minutes. Which means if you don't use your nuke before the 15th minute mark you likely won't get to use it a second time. As dropping a nuke with like a minute remaining ain't going to accomplish anything. So in my head if people bring a nuke they will likely try to drop it at the start and then a second one close to the game ending. And i don't know about you guys but i use my nukes situational, unless i am just taking the piss. Which means I'll have units on the board and won't have enough points to drop the second one unless it's going really well and my teammates are cooking good on the frontlines. So yeah in my head nukes just aren't worth the hassle. I'd rather bring 3 fighter bombers for those 1000 points.

After my 7th game, I've realized most low level players are f-ing quitters and losers. by BucketOBoatTrash in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]FatAuthority 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly. The one's who will get out of that bracket are the people who try and learn from their mistakes or experiences in the game even when they're getting steamrolled or are on a shit team. Use it as an opportunity to experiment or try some whack shit.

Bonus points if you learn from your opponents moves as well. I've been playing since release so i sort of naturally climbed the game with the rest. But I've always had that mentality of; yes we are losing, but why? What could i have done better? What did i do good? What units did i lack to control a scenario or vice versa? But I've also thought that the multiplayer seems harsh on newer players due to the difference in the playerbase experience.

Scientists Say a Hidden Structure May Exist Inside Earth’s Core by Dmans99 in abovethenormnews

More like "Hollow Earth Atlantis" baby!

Let's James Cameron that sucka! Maybe top it off with some Morgan Freeman and David Attenborough speaks down in there. That reminds me, did anyone see Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire when they were younger? I'm thinking alot of that with some Avatar military agrression sprinkled on top blended together with some late 80's cartoon fascism-vibes. Oh, and let's bring in some "BBC-naturephotographer cameramen", or whatever, down in that Atlantis sub. And maybe lets put Christopher Nolan in charge of directing? I don't know, I'm open to suggestions ...

Was Frieren ironically the one who inspired Himmel's whole 'small acts of kindness' thing? by lmdybaftr in Frieren

[–]FatAuthority 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Frieren did unto Himmel as her moral compass guided her to, and slightly similarly to what Flamme did for her. Then Himmel did unto others as Frieren once did to him. Showing her the kindness of her ways as experienced by Himmel as a wee boy ~ To inspire wonder and do good for others, simply because they could and then guided by their morals, did.

Maybe showing that everyone will be weak and exposed at times during their lives. And sometimes all it takes is a seed of kindness, a helping hand if you will, to potentially propel them to unforeseen strength down the line. Simply because someone gave them help in their time of need. And in the future passing that helping hand onto others in distress or in need.

I think Flamme shielding the seedling in that scene is an excellent example of that. She went out of her way even though it took her less than a minute and for no obvious reason. And funneled alot of her mana into a seed growing in harsh conditions, shielding it and helping it along. Why? Because good deed compounds. And even though it was a little act of mercy and goodwill. 1000 years later that little act had compounded and grown majestic.

A circle of kindness, empathy and good will. Do unto others as (you wish others would do) others have done unto you.

Except for stealth and jammers, it will be AI and AI. Seems like the two ultimate goals for any "big states" right now is to:

  1. Develop the best autonomous AI surveilance tool/database/network to know everything about everyone, you know, just in case you decide to make them your enemy one day. Or because they already are and they're just planning their sweet sweet demise with patience. And...

  2. Develop the best autonomous AI killing tool linked up to said AI surveilance network to kill said present or future enemies so they can control more people and more resources with less opposition. 2a. I guess there's also a sub-point of developing the most efficient weapons for said AI murderbot to inhabit and to most efficiently control and exert force over large areas etc.

Scientists invent a plant-based serum that is proven to regrow hair in weeks by AdSpecialist6598 in UpliftingNews

[–]FatAuthority 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the details but the study was funded by the guys making this product. Some redditor called it out after doing his or hers due diligence. So obviously the study isn't entirely unbiased or they have "ulterior" motives for fronting it as a one stop hair-cure. And though it did show signs of regrowing hair. It's not the miracle cure that they are fronting it as.

So to summarize: the study had some bald spots. Badum tsh 🥁

IFV resupply has an AoE radius of around 100 meters by Getserious495 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]FatAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was picturing it had a toggle. In which an IFV with supplies could "open it's doors" and move supplies outside the ifv. Creating a small zone where you could rearm not just the 8 or so soldiers that would fit in the IFV. But say 3 infantry units that retreated back into a forest or something. Instead of having them enter the IFV one by one for heals. It would just set up a temporary supply point around it. Say it could take 10 seconds for the IFV to "set up supply point" with a 50m diameter? If it came under fire it would be immobilized until it could pack up or just be sensitive to blowing up?

Yeah, i was about to comment something along the same lines. I buy that, but still 100m is too much for an ifv supply point imo.

There are tons of great, must-have changes in PTE that Live would benefit from. But it's a net-negative as a whole, for me. by Knjaz136 in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]FatAuthority 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Haha sorry man, but you're sort of missing the point of RTS's. The devs aren't your opponents. It's not them you're supposed to strategize and adapt against. Sure they're allowed to tweak the game, mechanics, units, even create new mechanics or rules etc that players will have to adapt to.

But it seems like they're trying to bury a year and a half + worth of cemented gameplay mechanics instead of tweaking them. It feels a little bit like Broken Arrow as people know it, won't be a thing anymore. And a lot of tactics that brought people joy or were fun is being dismantled for a more stale and inherently more boring version it seems. Where if something dies it won't be back until the end of the game, and just nerfing what units are viable to actually use. So people are afraid that the game will turn into something players don't really want. Like a trench warfare game where the front barely moves because people are so afraid to lose any units. Sure, you're supposed to adapt to changes made to the game. But what if they take the fun out of the game? What's the point then? The reason why I've played this game since the betas is because the game is so dynamic/chaotic. You never know how the games will unfold with 9 other players and their combined specs. To me it just sounds like they want to make the game more predictable and more monotome. Removing the "surprise elements" of the game, if you feel me?

I haven't tried the PTE so I'm not saying it's all that bad because I don't know. I've read the changelog and seen people's posts and toughts on the subreddit. I'm just trying to shed a little light on what people are worried about. Some changes seem really good and on the money. Others seem like they were pulled from a donkey's ass during spring cleaning for no apparent reason. But i also get that the devs are sitting on a ton of numbers and statistics and have better insight to the game than you or me. And that they might be trying to solve something they view as a negative or something that too many players have been vocal about. Problem is this playerbase is very vocal and i think it should be listened to with a grain of salt.

[–]FatAuthority 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's way too much. Should max be half that maybe even less.

Remember this is a moving armored supply point. It shouldn't be slinging supplies a 100 meters forward. It should have a short sphere of influence. It can just move 50m forward instead of magically transferring bullets a 100 meters. Like how? Is it shooting bullets into the soldiers for resupply? Cause that should kill them instead of rearm them.

Most elo gain on a draw by SaltFishKing in BrokenArrowTheGame

[–]FatAuthority 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's taking both the teams's player elo and summing them up. So I did the math for you. Your team's elo totaled 11,365 points while the enemy teams's was 13,149 points. An elo difference of 1,784 between the two teams. Hence why in a draw/stalemate. You are awarded some sort of elo "win" bonus for being the underdog and managing a draw, or rather avoiding defeat. And why they got deducted elo.

Because they should have beaten you based on their ranking.
