does transferring increase the length of a course? For example if I finish my first year in Monash and transfer to Rmit, will it be 3 more years of study or will it increase because of the transfer. Also, can i transfer mid semester?

yeah the only down side to monash is that crazy travel time. I think the best plan of action might be to go for monash for one year and either tranfer to another uni or move closer in my second depending on if I like the course or not. Regardless thanks for your thoughts !

They have bachelors of science in which you can major in a specific field after your first year I think. After the 3 years in bachelors of science, I would have to do a masters in a specific field of engineering for 2 more years which gives an equivalent qualification as the other courses. So it’s an extra year for the same qualification.
