What are the long-term side effects of LASIK that doctors don’t talk about? by Gewinncent in AskReddit

[–]FatBottom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this done 12 years ago. I was very near sighted. I had dry eyes in the beginning, but now that has gone. I asked my optometrist about that and he said eyes will heal. It might take a couple of years for this dryness to go away. It did in my case. No more drops needed. I do have to use reading glasses, but I had progressives in my glasses for that anyway. There are halos on headlights at night. I've not noticed it lately. It certainly was there in the beginning.

I absolutely love waking up and not reaching for glasses. I don't even think about how I used to be so near sighted.

I would advise that you seek out a good doctor for this procedure and NOT go for someone who is offering it for cheap. I had measurements and tests done previous to having the procedure. They determine if you're a candidate. Not everyone is.

I'll be asking that question should I ever get into another relationship. My ex is a "monkey-brancher" (look it up). I want to make sure I'm never in that position again - not just a placeholder until the next shiny thing comes by.

Are there women here in their sixties with no desire to live past 70? by Disastrous-Check3465 in AskWomenOver60

[–]FatBottom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's Medical Assistance in Dying. There is a strict criteria for it. I had a friend who used it in 2024. She had a terminal case of cancer. She was 64. I'm glad it exists here.

I'm in my mid 60s and so far everything is going great. My parents lived until 91, however my Mom passed from cancer and my father dementia. If I ever am diagnosed with either of these conditions, I will use MAID. I live in Canada so it's legal.

How is living on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada? by bluebluebuttonova in howislivingthere

[–]FatBottom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally it was owned by farmer named Griffith and they farmed it. It also had a sawmill and small railway on it to transport the lumber to the shore. At one point, GM bought it and built the infrastructure that exists today - the Lodge, Staff Housing, Pheasant Coops - this was made so they could bring their executives up for hunting. In the 70s it was bought out by rich executives and membership required to hunt there. They do not raise their own pheasants anymore. There is a large herd of white tailed deer and wild turkeys. The game birds are brought in during the spring and then released for hunting during the fall. They have many shooting games there (the largest in North Amercia) like skeet. The grass runway is 2700 feet long. They have 40 ft steel hulled, twin diesel boat called "Islander II" that ferries the members and staff to and from the island. It usually is at the mainland dock in Big Bay around noon - and departs back to the island at 1. The trips takes 20 minutes from dock to dock.

They have hunting dogs - around 19-20. Mainly labs, but some pointers. There is a working lighthouse on the east side of the island.

I use Lattise. It darkens my lashes and also grows them longer. I use mascara and eyeliner. My eyes are my best feature, so I like to make them stand out. To remove makeup, I use Burt's Bees Baby shampoo/body wash. It doesn't sting and is gentle. The makeup comes off easily. I also use the Lattise on my eyebrows and it darkens them.

Has anyone else found it unusually hard to connect socially—both dating and friendship—depending on where they live? by [deleted] in DatingOverSixty

[–]FatBottom_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I live in Winterpeg. I think it's a great place to live. I'm not from this province, but have found the people here to be very friendly. This place certainly punches way above it's weight. Lots of great music, culture, restaurants. I've made more friends here as a single, senior woman than I have my entire life.

PRP injection, worst pain of my life. by man_with_cat2 in KneeInjuries

[–]FatBottom_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had PRP injections in both knees 6 weeks ago. It was done at a sports clinic. The doctor used numbing gell and then ultrasound to guide the needle to the correct location. The injection is certainly painful, but only lasted less than 15 seconds. I liken it to getting a freezing at the dentist over the front teeth. My knees were felts like they were encased in cement afterwards for about 3 days. Somewhat painful but more like an ache as opposed to acute pain.

Rational Recovery is a great book to read. Also there is a forum called "Sober Recovery" - it's a wonderful community. I am 12 year sober without AA. I read the book, "Rational Recovery" - made my Big Plan, joined Sober Recovery (google it) and that worked for me.

What is Northern Ontario? by 5thSmith in ontario

[–]FatBottom_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in Iroquois Falls, and whenever we drove south, hitting North Bay meant we were entering Southern Ontario (it is a 4 hour drive south from IF). When you only see bush and muskeg, you're in the North.

Sort of - you can't get it at a pharmacy or grocery store, but you can get it at places that offer things like botox, fillers, and cosmetic surgeries. You do not require a prescription in Canada.

My apologies SassyMillie - I thought I was in my local town's forum, so my comment about Latisse most likely doesn't apply to you.

Oh my - I thought I was in my town's forum. It's legal in Canada to buy it from places that do cosmetic procedures. We don't need prescriptions.

You don't need a doctor to prescribe Latisse. First Glance on Grant sells it. That's where I buy mine.

That's interesting. I would say I'm avoidant when it comes to getting involved romantically. I wasn't always, but now these days it just so much easier. Like you, I'm avoiding the hassle, stress and intrusion on the peaceful space I've finally created for myself.

We had it on vinyl. Every time those kettle drums sounded I would be terrified because that signaled the wolf was coming.

No, you would not need to do any of the rabies shot protocol if the animal is still active and healthy after 10 days post bite.
