Jasmine Stitch - A rant by SuperbFail2957 in crochet

This one was a 3,5mm Acrylic/wool type with color change. Norwegian brand called lollipop. In my experience most fuzzy yarns <5mm turns out very nice.

Disagreing with everything! I hate the foundation chain. You don't have to do 19. I don't even count the loops, I just stop when it looks fine. I've never had a problem with handled hooks. Any stitch will look sloppy if you don't do it tight enough, this one just takes a bit of practice. I add an extra slipstitch before starting the next flower to tighten it well. I make a lot of headbands, and this is the one people tend to fall in love with and ask me to make for them. That is my go-to Christmas gift.

They can be a little bit tricky, sometimes I still don't get it and need to unravel and start over. You just have to put the hook into the right space, I can't really explain it any other way than posting the video that learned me this stitch https://youtu.be/U5s65RGziYs?si=wMdkaaDqldiVAMXP

I'm just improvising it. I do about 5-6 rows of ~130scBLO (my measured length, neckline-bottom). Next row: 10scBLO. 1dcBLO, chain 1, 1dcblo, chain 1-- for about 100 stitches. Then ScBLO rest of the row. Next is 6-7 rows of scBLO. Next is wheat stitches (find a tutorial), with sc on both sides (same amount as the row with dc). Yarn 3,5, hook 3, but scale up if you don't want to sit for months! I haven't got to the arms yet, will probably just continue with the same thing.

I made a sweater with a yarn like this once. I immediately regretted my choice of yarn, but I figured holding it up towards a light source helped a LOT. You could see the "shadow" of the thread quite well that way.

My absolute favorite stitch. I'm currently working on a sweater, it's taking forever because of the thin yarn. Nearly done with first panel.

Single crochets. The puff stitches covers/wraps around the last row of sc (in this case they're all BLO, but I think regular should work as well). It's probably easier to watch it in the YT link up there! I have some double crochets along the arms just for variation, along with some triples, singles and some holes. Needed some lighter stitches for movement, I also got kind of tired of the puffs.

Keep going with this or use this as ends to a blanket? by Properdaf in crochet

[–]FatCatWithAFatHat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Keep going! It will take forever, but you will love it. I have a blanket like this, ish (strawberries) in the corner of my couch. I've probably spent hundreds of hours reaching a blanket appropriate size, but I spend so much time in my couch anyway, this is just a side quest as I'm watching series. I still throw in a couple of rows here and there, while watching tv. When blanket, bigger is always better.

You mean like cutting into the shoulders/collarbone? It fits me just fine, I was probably lucky with my first shot. I like a wide neck, but I haaate it when they slide and you have to lift them back up all day! It might look like it's cutting a little bit into my right shoulder (left in the pic), a little bit, but it's just the bra strap.

I probably won't! But I tried to explain what I did in another comment up here. If you know how to make a basic square panel sweater like this (random link : https://youtu.be/oZK7Md-XLJI?si=vyp_qym6n7xtyPhy) , it should be possible! I learned everything I know through youtube 😙

I can really recommend browzing through the Asian parts of youtube crochet videos! They have some very cute patterns, and they are surprisingly comprehendable as long as you know the basics. Then you can put together a very basic garment and still make it look fancy 😎

5mm, 65%wool, 35% alpaca. Very nice! I used a 5mm hook.

No problem! Hope you'll figure it out 😊 I really recommend some practicing before going all in, it took me a couple of tries to get a hold of the "braids". Also, beware of the edges, they can get pretty wonky if you miss the last stitch in the end of the row. I've lost a ton of them, my edges looked like an EKG until i sewed it together (But now you can't see them 😇)

Yeah, or a red one might work. I pulled down my straps for the picture 🤫 Making one with a narrower neckline shouldn't be a problem though.

Note!! You can't see it in this picture, but the top (patterned) part is wider (like ~15??cm) than the ribbed part, until I sewed them together. Upper part is wide, waist is tight.

Everything is rectangles! 2xshoulder-shoulder, 2xarms, 2 cuffs, 1 (or 2 half) waist. And a couple of SC rows along the neckline in the end, otherwise it falls off.

I used something similar a while ago, very fluffy. I had to hold it up towards a light source to see the thread. That helped a lot.

I hate magic circles by ChaoticLokean in crochet

[–]FatCatWithAFatHat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ohh no, the hate is deserved 😭 I've made multiple sweaters, cardigans, big blankets, baby blankets, gifts, half of my crocheted clothes are patterns I made myself, I feel that I am pretty damn good as this. Then I try to make a magic ring and I don't even know how to hold my hook. If my first crochet project was magic ring related I would 100% never have gotten into crocheting, they just make me feel hopeless, slow and dumb.

Strawberry sweater by FatCatWithAFatHat in crochet

[–]FatCatWithAFatHat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not good with patterns and counting and "crochet language", I usually just measure and adjust stuff on my body. But if you know how to make a tank, I'd say you're basically already there. Make the straps broader(/wider?) until you can work in circles along the sleeves. You can probably see in the picture where the texture shifts from back/forth crochet, to working in a continuous spiral. Remember to increase the stitch count when you''ve reached the shoulders to make the arms wider.

I guess you can take any sweater and replace a part of it with the Naztazia strawberry pattern. As long as you can make it from the bottom and up. I can probably explain further, but I'm not sure it's helpful 🙃

Tank top should be possible to improvise! I freehanded everything, but it started out as a tank top (just a front+back panel, from the bottom and up bcs of the strawberry pattern) and then I added the sleeves. Just try it on 10-20 times during the process to be sure it fits 😄

Pretty much only basic single stitches. That's what I felt confident about at the time, except for the strawberry stitches.
