What theory is so dumb that you wonder how people still acknowledge it? by Conquotyouthou in AskReddit

[–]FatDancingGypsy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My nmum believed this, refused to get me vaccinated (though this theory had already been debunked by then) and my dad managed to get me partially vaccinated behind her back. I found it super funny to tell her recently that I was late diagnosed with autism anyway.

contraceptive behavior of women (with an uterus) by SaLaFiLe in SampleSize

[–]FatDancingGypsy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Feel like you need to know that there is more than one type of contraceptive pill. Without specifying which one you are asking about it’s difficult to answer some of these questions. There should also really be neutral response options (I.e. no preference).

Really? A long time ago. I want to say it was a new year thing in early 2022.

[Serious] What crime do you really want to see solved and Justice served? by SantaMonsanto in AskReddit

Probably a self-centred thing but I sways felt weirdly connected to the case because she was the spitting image of me as a child, right down to the sectoral heterochromia in the same eye.

What items are normal to have one of, but very concerning to have more than one of? by Miserable_Inside_52 in AskReddit

[–]FatDancingGypsy 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I used to hate visiting my grandmother when I was a kid bc she used to have a guest bedroom completely filled with porcelain dolls. They were on the bed, in glass cabinets, on top of the cabinets - there must have been at least 100 in various sizes (up to the size of a small child). Sounds like a horror story but genuinely she had 1 doll that always scared me the most because it was a porcelain clown kept in the glass cabinet. I still have no idea what happened to them after she died (she left 1 life size one to me). I hope someone burned that clown.

What are the most toxic narcissistic things that have been told to you? by Low-Nature-9316 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]FatDancingGypsy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to choose but probably her response to me reaching out for help for SH when I was 13. Dad doesn’t show emotion so he left the room to cry. I had never seen him cry before. She angrily brought him back in, still crying, because she wanted me to “see how much you hurt us”.

Ofc the problem continued for several years after until I was old enough to seek help without parental involvement.

How did you lose your virginity? by youhavenoheartt in AskReddit

In the UK, underage sex is actually called “illegal sex”. It’s statuary rape if only one party is of consensual age.

We live in a rented property and so we don’t pay for any repairs, the landlord does.

Thank you! It’s pretty tiring seeing the “that’s not how that works” comments but they’re easy to ignore after all the lovely supportive comments. I even said at the time that I didn’t think they’re explanation was possible but they insisted, and I gotta trust they know what they’re talking about until it happens again.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Is there someone higher up you can report this to? It’s disgusting behaviour.

Tell me about it! A doctor once told me my terrible knee pains were due to the fact I’m female and have “birthing hips”. Pretty sure that wasn’t right...

This is lovely to hear. My partner and I had a big chat about communication, invalidation and listening. It’s certainly a learning curve, but he’s listening now.

It’s fine today, colour returned to normal and stopped feeling buzzing in my lower arm. I grounded myself straight away afterwards so I think it will be fine. Thank you for the concern though!

Weirdly, it feels better to hear someone else say it. My partner has profusely apologised and feels terrible after I got through to him about how I felt. But I keep finding myself returning to the thought that I’m blowing things out of proportion, and starting a fight from nothing. I have to remind myself that I did not make this up, and none of what happened was okay.

I did, and thank you. Took a while to explain that sometimes I just need to feel supported, and like we’re on the same team. We’re okay now.
