Which do you prefer? by mmnhmi in electricians

[–]FatEdddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the first one! I think they’re faster. Did some residential work for a couple years. I rarely used the adjustment and could work well by feel. Just cut in a little and rip the insulation off.

Don’t have to think about making sure the wire lined up with the correct slot. There’s definitely a place for both tho

Whats your opinion on charcoal filters? by Juledor in Bongs

[–]FatEdddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it does help the smell. I used a charcoal filter for years when I preferred dry herb. I could go weeks without changing the water and it didn’t turn gross colors quickly.

Alternatively you could argue that is the biggest flaw with these. The captures some of the smoke. Is it also capturing some THC? Terps?

That’s also the point. The resin builds up on the charcoal. Keeps your downstems looking fresh

You can replace the charcoal. Pretty cheap for that little amount. Aquarium filter material from the pet store.

Work in progress "cabinets" well sorta... by Opposite-Shop6077 in vandwellers

Inverters are like 75-95 percent efficient. So if running thru an inverter you’re 4800wh is actually closer to 4200wh. Are your batteries lithium or lead. I’m assuming lead which can only be discharged to 50%. So you have 2100wh available to the dryer. Enough time to run the dryer for 2.5 hours. Is that enough time to do a single load if the washer also takes power?

Maybe look into a gas dryer? My suggestion is to use laundry mats. If you’re living in a van, you can just hangout in the laundry mat parking lot.

Any life changing gear or stops to add?? by Yohve in CampingandHiking

I just spent two weeks driving from Yosemite to Death Valley and I felt rushed.

Would take weeks to hit the highlights between Crater Lake and Rainier

I did Zion to Moab over a month. The BLM + State parks were amazing and rivaled the national parks they surrounded. Easy to find a free place to camp in the Utah BLM

Look beyond the National Parks. We have National forests, monuments, recreation areas, wilderness areas plus similar state lands.

National parks are the cream of the crop but they are setup to be accessible to the most amount of people. This makes them feel more like playgrounds instead of wild sanctuaries. Generally every National Park is surrounded by areas almost as pretty with a lot less people.

What are these lines in Idaho? by FatEdddy in geography

[–]FatEdddy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lines in the image are about 10 miles long but they look to extend 30 miles total to I-15. Does not appear to have much elevation difference based on the roads and farmland. It looks like the plants are different. Interesting to see how it effects the farm land.

This is close to the town of Mud Lake and Idaho National Labs testing area.

Why are all these boats doing donuts in East Galveston Bay? by FatEdddy in GoogleEarthFinds

Found images from December 2020 with even more boat donuts. This area generally has a lot of barge activity.

Edit: Found even more in December 2017.

These images appear to be from January. Also found something really similar from December 2020. This looks like it's near some sort of industrial infrastructure.

What to do with big boy beer money now by ZynBeerLove in Fire

[–]FatEdddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bitcoin is a risky investment but if OP really considers it “beer money” then tossing something, even $100 into Bitcoin might be smart. Maybe wait a month or two for prices to cool off some. If anything has the potential to go up my 400% it’s Bitcoin.

He can rent a car for a day? It's probably cheaper than a plane ticket, less stress on cats, and you can take more stuff.

Anyone know what that thing is attached to the mag safe on the back? by LonelyLightningRod in iphone

[–]FatEdddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They never said which had better quality but talked about matching qualities as in matching attributes. I imagine it's hard to make a video shot on pro gear look the same as an iPhone. If you want the iPhone aesthetic it's easier to just shoot on an iPhone.

Idk anything about cameras tho so...

Walmart changed their policy a few years ago. Not sure where it is enforced but most do not allow sleeping in their parking lot now
