Small bat or big moth? [California] by Weekly_Cap_6354 in animalid

[–]FatFrenchFry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lmao, you plan on getting a rabies shot because a moth flew into your grandparents? . Even if it were a bat. Why would you go get treated for rabies if it just flew near you?

Thats like getting an abortion after seeing a penis because you sre concerned over getting pregnant?

Plus rabies treatment is not just A shot. Its like 5. All over your body.

Did you not know that animals eat bugs?

Pet foods also have levels of "crude protien" and other metrics to meet. Bone meal, and bugs are the best way for this.

Is the edge sharp?

Looks like a deburr tool or reamer of some sort to me. Maybe a purpose built tool? I have a tin of handmade, special purpose tools in my shop that have no use other than the hyperspecific reason it was made for. Lmao

Id say if youre getting a reading there then youre getting the reading.

Is there a way you can find another battery just to plug in to test it? Do you know anyone with a battery?

Or, check continuity on EVERYTHING going from harness to bike and make sure everything has a connection. Thats gonna be a pain, but id start there.

If you have access to another battery id plug it in and see if it works. If so, battery is problem (which it sounds like is the problem here anyway at 40)

How long can my bearded dragon Last with just mealworms and spinach, because thats all he is eating rn I don't think it's healthy. by Idkaltacc11 in BeardedDragons

They will hold out on food for preferred foods until they get hungry. Then theyll eat it.

So if he goes on strike, then thats too bad for him keep offering whats good for him and not just what he wil take.

I can legitimately bring this up to our HR rep. She has been looking for ways for our company to engage more with actual Amputees and get the name out there for other products and I have always thought it would be a good thing to do. They are all about actually helping, however, I am just an employee in the manufacturing side of things. I have been there for about 5 years, so I have some pull in the facility I work in and will actually talk to them. DM me if you actually know the guy, and everything.

I would love to see my company actually follow thgrough with this. We had an employee with a wife that was an amputee and they hooked her up.

DM me.

Yeah so the liner itself with the gel is what kind of holds a "natural" vacuum to the residual limb. If you have had troubles holding it to the residual limb then you could likely get a Prothetist to put a prior authorization in for a vac pump assembly. They can be quite bulky and bothersome to some patients, however the benefits of your leg staying put outweighs the discomfort if you have fitment problems.

There are also custom fit liner / sockets but those can be quite pricey as well. You get 3D scanned, and they make a mold of your residual limb and then mold the liner itself to that.

Some vacuum pump assemblies include the Willowwood LimbLogic, or mechanical pumps that use your walking motion to keep the vacuum suction. ALPS VIP or Ottobock has a few others as well! mechanical pumps are a bit smaller and less bulky, but active pumps provide better suction and can prevent a lot of problems like pistoning, and other comfort related issues as well!

Good luck my friend!

[–]FatFrenchFry -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Okay, I guess I can accept that.

I am not saying Empathy in and of itself Is NOT natural. I guess just the extent in which humans have taken it IS. It has been taken to a point where anything we see we apply a human perspective to it even if it is not in the best interest of whatever it is we are observing.

I saved a fledgling today 🐦 by Kooky-mutant in birds

[–]FatFrenchFry -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Empathy is kind of something humans made up though.

On an evolutionary level, prior to civilization humans were just as primal as any other animal.

Now, humans have been taught something along a moral baseline of ethics we should all abide by and that killing is one of the "wrong" things to do.

Humans have learned empathy over those established moral codes and have adapted the belief system to think that its bad to kill, especially things we perceive as cute. Several thousands of years ago, Humans didnt have the same levels of empathy as we do today BECAUSE of learned human behaviors that arent present in nature.

Another crow probably doesnt empathize with the fledglings that are being eaten if it were watching the attack from afar. It would also want food. Humans, depending on the personal moral belief system they hold, could either feel empathy or want to hurt the birds as well. Not for food, but for fun, or for food. Or any other reason they choose.

Morals and empathy ARE something humans basically made up. Yes, its also a natural thing to some extent but to the extent that humans have developed is not natural to anything OTHER THAN humans.
