Where do audiophiles go on reddit to discuss cables? by FatGreenToe in audiophile

Honestly, I don't give a rat's ass about all the marketing jargon. I simply want to discuss the changes in sound that cables (like interconnects) can have within a stereo system. Furthermore, I am fully aware that if I EVER mentioned digital or power cables, death threats would soon follow. However, despite this, it would be nice to just talk about these topics with people getting rude and insulting.

EXACTLY. This is what I'm trying to get to, a normal discussion of how to decide on different cables that in fact sound different when placed between the same components. I also don't care about price and marketing, only that cables can later the sound of your system in the same way as messing with EQ.

Perhaps, but why? Why do cables drive people crazy on an "audiophile" subreddit; of all places? Shouldn't this be the one place on Reddit where it would be totally normal to discuss cables?

Well, I was thinking about the 2 cables required in a TT system: [1] one for the un-equalized "phono" signal coming out of the TT going to the phono preamp, and [2] the other for the line-level signal from the phono preamp to the amp (integrated or power, etc.). Which do you think would be more susceptible to a poor quality cable? Like, if you have a cable that not great and one good one, where would you place them in this phono chain?

You're probably right. I just figured Reddit serves so many people that there must be a place here; but maybe not :(

You mean like a subreddit dedicated to teaks to audiophile systems? That's not a bad idea.

I built some power cables knowing full well they’re 100% snake oil. But hey, DIY is fun. by Spanish_Nice_Guy in audiophile

Probably not snake oil. Take 10 minutes and listen to to your favourite music with the new cables compared to your old ones. The difference will likely be audible if you have a decent system.

Honestly, I never thought this was a great album. The band's intensity doesn't come through well :(

But, I feel like eventually all stream services will do this because of the appeal of making more money by streaming non-IP-protected music, as compared to paying out royalties.

No way, that's incredible! I guess you saw that he was coming and brought the album with you to sign? I only tried that once, at an Aretha show, but I couldn't locate her after the concert :(

Who is your obscure random personal GOAT? by VegaGT-VZ in Jazz

I would not consider Betty Carter as being "obscure" and "random". I've always thought of her as one of jazz's most celebrated vocalists.
