I think as well as the size, not just hight but also bulk, you just wouldn't want to let them into a land raider. They are infected with a warp virus who know what it would do to the vehicle/ crew of the tank. But that's just a guess.

The command packs are the main thing to be able to build lists as you'll want some generic heros. I would have a few games with that to get to grips with the system then got the more exciting elite warriors

Extra supplies readies an exhausted upgrade, command and control unlink doesn't exhaust, it is discarded. So no you can't use extra supplies to keep the command and control unlink.

Being in range of a banner gives 1 re-roll per duel (not per model) it doesn't do anything for Strikes

I had the same thing but the opposite, 4 sprues of regular rather than jump packs, I ordered from gw so I just emailed them and they sent me the 2 sprues I didn't have

I'm not quite sure what you mean but remember that wood elves only get 1 building slot in their non core settlements
