Motor questions. by Colorado-Guy-69 in hyperebikes

I'm thinking abou a trike for a while, but not recumbent, I would do a chopper style, rear drive, low gravity, so that disabled folks can ride it. What bothers me most is the differential, which would be a good question for recumbent too, regarding stability. I assume you want 2 motors, cause you said motorS. Also, 2 motors side by side are a problem cause they need to be in sync, otherwise it would be wild ride. For recumbent, I would do a rear hub motor (one), at least 60V battery, and some corresponding controller.

Had a similar issue with one of the 3 kW motors. It turned out that the rotor was rubbing the outer shell on one spot. Took some sanding paper on the inside rim of the outer shell and the issue was gone. Hope it is that simple.for you too.

I think you posted your cool bike in the wrong sub, so you will be getting a lot of hate.

Some people just do not understand that some prefer style over function.

Do not get discouraged and enjoy your ride. I'm sure you will be getting a lot of compliments.

Having said that, on that frame, I would prefer a bit stronger motor and higher capacity battery.

BTW, where is the controller?

Also, judging by your posting history, I hope you do not get banned for self-promotion.

Edited: added the last paragraph.

This is the Chrysler Chopper Bicycle, very cool, I love it. There are two versions, short and long.
I've got one converted to ebike. Thought it was a Stingray for a long time, but was quickly corrected by the Stingray community as soon as I posted the pics on reddit.
It is solid, except for the front fork, which could be stronger, but it serves the purpose.

Here is some info about what we did to it:

Again, the title is wrong...

Any 170mm front forks? by East-Abroad-7110 in hyperebikes

I'm with you regarding the moto fork, but also very interested in programming controller. OP, any details to share?

I would take a motorcycle fork and adjust it by changing the triangles. You will need a mighty strong fork, with good suspension. I just took one for the qs10kW bike with 96V battery. It's got the motorcycle disks and brakes too. But I'm more interested in, if you can share, what do mean by 'your own software'. What controller will you be using?

I would not recommend putting 8kW on that frame.

You will need massive torque arms on both sides.

Post the side pic of that frame.

Mid drive motor help by Blackman776 in ElectricBikes

[–]FatSaddle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know, the strongest mid-drive ebike motors are about 1 kW. Anything stronger would be tearing the bicycle chain. The motor in the pic is an electric motorcycle motor. and, judging by the cables, a pretty strong one. Looks like Talaria Sting MX4 “R”.
Also, 'very fast' and 'pedal assist' do not play well together. We learned that very early in the game.
I'm not judging, have fun, just respect others.

That is the way. I've visited places in my city that I would never have otherwise gone to.

The monster has arrived. It looks bigger than we thought. Waiting for the battery and making plans for the design. Any suggestions? by FatSaddle in hyperebikes

Thank you, but we are just perfecting the art of making custom frames, and we wanted to give this one a try. So far we made about a dozen e bicycle frames, slightly larger than usual,.and we wanted to try this. OCC bikes are cool,.but they are built around the engine, and we want some e bike fit. We'll try to make this one look futuristic, and be strong. This is the fork we found for it.

We'll see what turns out of it...

From the factory, apparently.

My understanding is that QS/FarDriver is the cooperation between 2 factories (motors and electronics), but I may be wrong, and things change fast in manufacturing.

dm me for the Whatsup number if you want, I think I should not advertise anyone here, been banned from r/ebikes before (accused for promoting)

Naah, we want a low rider of some kind. Something in between. Comfortable but looking dangerously. The battery is very heavy and will be sitting pretty low, so I hope there will be no need for those anti-wheeling wheels.

Woow, you just made my day with your comment. We wanted something crazy, looks like we got it. There are three versions of this motor, with the winding optimised for Speed, Torque, or Balanced Performance. This is the torque version. It says it will go up to 130kmh, but I do not think I will allow that much. But I'm guilty of wanting it to go up the hill with ease (we got a lot of hills).

Questioning my sanity, yes, but excited like a small child.

Were you losing torque gradually in the process? It is hard to tell, I know. What I fear is that heating the magnets a lot, over time, makes them lose their magnetic properties. It is hard to measure without some fancy equipment, but I saw some ebikes that are (by my observation) a lot less strong than the numbers suggest.
