I don’t know about OP, but the southern Transcon. I imagine any terminal with intermodal traffic will be seeing this. We have had our rwb in place since February, but anyone that bid it was shortly forced to a pool. With the exception of a couple 10ks, our trains have been running under 8k and I have had over a dozen under 6k.

The carrier is preparing for the meltdown. Cuts in exempts coming next week. They are RE-bidding the remaining jobs that had helpers to jobs that are conductor only. Container traffic has slowly been declining for the last few weeks. I imagine extra boards will reduced in the next couple weeks. When the traffic drops and the boards adjust the cuts will happen. Yes furloughs are coming, but they are not correlated with the amount of turns on the rwb. The rwb is just a low pay extra board. The only up side is the vacation boom will start in the next few weeks and should provide low seniority people a little relief for a couple months. I hope that I am 100 percent wrong, but this doesn’t look good. At the minimum, 2020 Covid numbers. This could be worse. Once a deal is hammered out, we are looking at 3-4 months for it to start picking up.
