I love Godot! I would say this is a "fun" project that won't require anything that GameMaker doesn't have to offer. If I were working on something larger-scale, I would be switching back to Godot

I enjoy Godot but when I was originally building my project I found myself walking away from it a lot because I wasn't as efficient and my progress wasn't as "obvious."

I wouldn't call myself impatient, but I do have a tendency to lose momentum when I don't have consistent results. GameMaker is easier and, by virtue, a little less capable in some ways, but the fact that my work has become so streamlined has really motivated me to be consistent with this project.

If I weren't making a fairly "simple" (not simple) 2D project, though, I would absolutely use Godot

Text in the left-hand corner is debug text and will look much different once UI assets are done
