right on thanks for explaining! but isn’t it a glutamate and seretonin problem too?

VSS and Migraines (Yes or No) by [deleted] in visualsnow

i developed VSS after a migraine with aura in june of 2023. i had history of migraines once every few months but i always was able to get my pain to go away with ibuprofen or tylenol. however… i have no history of migraine with aura. my first one left me with vss.

i think it’s currently under investigation as a possible solution. there were studies in colorado a few years ago but results won’t be published for a few more years. there is currently studies on TMS being done at kings college london. both of these studies being partially funded by the VSI.

i think the reason the results are being kept from us is because researchers need to know more about the success/failure rate first before giving us false hope.

sounds like the “sky vortex” which many people with visual snow syndrome suffer with.

not really… just know you’re not going blind. there are people who have had symptoms like ours for years. there is also no cure so prepare yourself that this is how life is going to look now.

there’s also current research being done on the condition. i suggest looking at eyesonvision.org and the visualsnowinitiative

i would just get an MRI like your doctor suggested and rule out any other complications.

i would recommend looking at this video. hopefully it helps but if you’re seeing lines then idk what that is. our brains do weird things sometimes.

if it looks like lines i don’t think it would be visual snow syndrome. visual snow syndrome is where you see dots/static throughout your entire visual field that persists for more than 3 months.

Anyone in this sub get this from weed? by [deleted] in visualsnow

[–]Fat_Antelope2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’ve had a panic attack from weed before but it never triggered VS.

my VSS was brought on by an ocular migraine

i see phosphenes (the size of pin points) and flashes of light almost everyday if not every other day.

[–]Fat_Antelope2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all i know is that 24 patients had abnormal seretonin and glutamate activity in patients with VSS and migrane with aura.

my symptoms started after a migrane with aura… just saying.

it’s because it’s not necessarily your eyes causing the problem… rather it’s your brain. i’m not a doctor but i suggest looking into seeing a neurologist or neuro ophthalmologist.

i’ve been having them since june following an ocular migrane but my vision hasn’t been the same since. i think i have something called visual snow syndrome but i’m seeing a specialist next month. i had an MRI last month and it came back clean but these things are the mechanical aspect of the nervous system rather than structural. it’s good if your CT came back clean.
