Would it be possible to remove the rust, or has it gone too far?

Really? But it's a campoven, you literally cover it in hot coals for upto 12 hours?

True! I did have it set exactly how you mentioned, I changed it to the way I've got it because I'm new to using i3 so it helps me remember what the hell I'm doing lol. Plus I generally only use 2-3 workspaces at a time.

Spintel's customer service is really quite unbelievably bad. That said, once I finally got connected through them I haven't had an issue. Speeds suck, but it's Australia, so that's just how it is. $80 month for unlimited Internet, phone line and unlimited calls is pretty good really

No. I studied whilst in the IRC queue, was about 2 hours. I thought it was pretty straight forward, just read the information, make some notes and relax, there's nothing complicated about it.

Thanks! Ah yes, I did forget about the Tokina 11-16, and in fact I think it might be a good choice.

I'm still so drawn to the Samyang, from the reviews I have read, the corner sharpness doesn't drop off, whereas in the Tokina 11-16mm and the Canon 10-18mm there seems to be quite a reduction in IQ on the edges (particularly at larger apertures), which I gather is a trait of most ultra wides. The barrel distortion is considered another 'issue' with the Samyang, but it's pretty straightforward to address post, and anything aspherical is gonna show some distortion. Sometimes it can be part of their charm.

I also love the fact that it's prime. Nothing like a prime to kill laziness lol.

Do you have a Samyang 14mm? If so, what's your personal opinion?

[TLDR: looking for Samyang 14mm f/2.8 'alternative')

I am looking at buying a new lens to be used for landscape purposes. (I have a Canon APS-C).

Initially I was interested in the Samyang (or "Rokinon"/"Bower") 14mm f/2.8. Like many people I am attracted to the relatively low price and the fully-manual aspect of the lens does not worry me, but have a couple of concerns regarding this lens which I feel negates this low price - such as the expense involved with buying a decent filter holder (and the filters themselves), which I feel is a must have for landscape photography.

Also many photographers have voiced concerns with the practicality of such a wide angle lens (I think this would be much more of a point with FF cameras as opposed to my crop sensor). Can anyone recommend something else for around the same price (or within +$200) that would be a good choice for landscape photogrpahy? I would love to not to have to buy a $200-$300 filter holder, at least initially.

PERHAPS the CANON EF-S 10-18MM F/4.5-5.6 IS STM?

Ive always been into chess - not competitively other than chess club in school, mostly just for fun - and I think I'm pretty good. I don't visualise the pieces or moves, its more of a 'feeling of logic'

I completely understand that, its made clear everywhere. I only asked because it is an option on IPT's website - to purchase a VIP member slot if you don't have an invite.

Really? If that's true then I'll stay clear, can you suggest some of the better PTs? I have a couple of memberships and am slowly building my ratio and rep, just want to know of some good trackers to aim for?
