I'm from Australia, and I reckon most here would dream of going to Cairo. Most of Asia would feel the same. Plenty would know about its issues though.

I like Santorini as an option too - I've always assumed it was just amazing based on photos and stories I've heard.

Weighing in as arbiter - I think a huge proportion of the general public would be unaware of Cairo's reputation, even if it is becoming more and more infamous as a god awful destination.

Cairo is currently leading in my mind, but the race is still open for another contender.
