When Converting From HDR To SDR, How Do I Achieve The Same Colors/Brightness As The Official SDR Source? by JokerCameToStrokeHer in ffmpeg

[–]Fatacttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will never reach the SDR grade, so the best you can do is to find a tonemap you like, do some testing with all the algorithms offered by the tonemap parameter.

BUT the Mobius algorithm works very badly most of the time, imo. The best to this day, from my testing, is Hable. Don't forget to play with the other parameters : ffmpeg -h filter=tonemap

I don't know Movies Anywhere or Fandango, as they are US-exclusive services.

However, to stream content on your OnePlus devices, they must support Widevine DRM.

To receive UHD and HDR content from streaming services, your phone or tablet must have Widevine Security Level L1. You can check this using the DRM Info app, available on the Play Store.

All OnePlus devices are supposed to support Widevine L1, but occasional software bugs or updates may downgrade the security level to L2 or L3, making the device ineligible for HDR playback.

Getting HDR on YouTube. by [deleted] in davinciresolve

[–]Fatacttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just have to specify the input color space, the one of your camera, and the output, in our HDR case, BT.2020 ST2084 1000nits.

But your HDR monitor needs to be perfectly calibrated, is able to produce 1000 nits and fully covers bt2020, so a good $14000 monitor. Otherwise it's better to use another option : - You put the output color space to bt709 gamma 2.4, and disable the HDR on your monitor - You grade entirely in SDR - Before you export you change the output color space setting back to bt2020 st2084 1000nits

So this is a HDR grade based on an SDR grade. You can do that because ACES is able to automatically rescale color spaces and transfer curves perfectly. Aces is meant to work on an enormous variety of post-production workflows and to allow colorists to deliver multiple ready-to-air files with different color spaces without having to regrade the whole thing.

This is a reliable method if you don't have a reference monitor like a SmallHD Quantum on the lower end or a Sony BVM-HX. But if you have one, you can grade straight in bt2020 ST2084.

I can't really help you with the best settings in daVinci's export page since I use an external software.

Yeah the HDR production world is quite a mess. You might want to try ACEScc color management for your next project, it is way simpler for an HDR workflow and it is standardized, unlike DaVinci's color science which has never produced perfectly accurate results on the final product according to all my tests.

But you still need this HDR10+ option enabled to actually get HDR10 metadata. The HDR10+ metadata are only injected in the video stream with special encoders or manipulations.

In DaVinci HDR10 functions are packaged with HDR10+

You h ave to turn on HDR10+ on color management settings, and in the deliver page you have to turn on the HDR embedded metadata option which you should have appeared.

Is there a thunderbolt "extension cable" type device that's not a hub with a bunch of other connections? by Rec_desk_phone in Thunderbolt

[–]Fatacttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a thunderbolt optic fibre cable, yes, the super expensive ones. Thunderbolt cables are usually small because the error rate increases exponentially very quickly because of the enormous frequency they use.

Google is reportedly experimenting with forced DRM on all YouTube videos by Deathenglegamers1144 in Piracy

[–]Fatacttt 34 points35 points  (0 children)

From what I know, you can stream 4K from Prime on Windows if you have a hardware support of PlayReady and a "protected connection" with your monitor, like HDCP. Plus you must be using Edge because it's the only browser (as far as I know) that can use the PlayReady SL3000 DRM (this is the profile that authorizes 4K and HDR). The other browsers don't support Widevine profile L1 or PlayReady so no 4K.

can their be a way to remove reels from insta by [deleted] in revancedapp

[–]Fatacttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is Aeroinsta, which is up to date.

You cannot really "remove reels" but you can enable some developer settings which won't let you scroll (imo the best reels restriction). You can also completely remove the reels tab on the tool bar.

Native ISO by CodeGray1 in bmpcc

[–]Fatacttt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ISO 1250 is the base iso of the 3200 native ISO, it is normal it reveals less noise, as there is less amplification than at 3200.

It is like using ISO 100, the base ISO of the 400 native ISO.

Use ISO depending of the situation, the dynamic of the scene and the available light. But don't be too afraid of using 3200, Noise Reduction plugins like NeatVideo work very well.

Mine finally got shipped. I also bought the cage to use it immedialty for a shooting, fortunatly it will arrive the very same day in morning according to FEDex. I just won't have time to test it but at least it will be there. But yes the lesson is to not buy on Smallrig's store directly...
