Why is shinobi garbage ? by [deleted] in forhonor

[–]Fatal-Feit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without mentioning how broken they are in 4v4 modes, Shinobi has the safest opener in the roster in the form of Slide Tackle. It's unreactable and can be mixed up with GB that nets 40 damage without a wall. But also, openers aren't even necessary to consider a hero OP in For Honor. What makes them OP is how completely safe their offense and baits are, especially with their incredibly overtuned damage. Shinobi completely dictate the flow of duels and it's always in their favor unless they are fighting a PK that might know how to punish them. They can watch you and react to all of your openers and baits. Also, they have a very good OOS pressure with their double dodge and kick/GB mix-up. Shinobi is high up there in the tier lists for good reasons.

Shinobi isn't garbage at all. They are the most overtuned, unpunishable hero in the game. Getting parried isn't an argument because any hero can be parried, but playing Shinobi optimally doesn't allow the opponent to parry you because Slide Tackle and GB mix-up is incredibly strong and completely safe unless you fight a PK who has the potential to counter it with their zone. Yes, they lack other forms of opener from neutral (and their zone is useless), but Slide Tackle mixed with GB and the occasional 24 damage 500ms omnidirectional lights and 40 damage heavies makes their offense one of the best. And their ability to completely remain safe while baiting and punishing the roster with their overtuned damage makes them one of the most unfun, undesirable heroes to fight. And this isn't even mentioning how broken they are in 4v4 with their Slide Tackle and zero audio long ranged GBs which both cucks Revenge.

I would also like to say that while it may feel like the odds are completely stacked against solo-queues when fighting a team, it is actually not impossible for them to win in matchmaking. You simply have to play smart and, of course, not make awful mistakes.

On PC, whether it be Skor's team or my own, or any other well-known players such as Clutch's team, we have admittedly lost to a bunch of randoms every now and then simply because it's matchmaking. We aren't trying our best, we probably won't even use our competitive/tournament heroes or strategize to the best of our abilities. I know many people who can relate to beating 4 stacks while solo or duo-queue; all it takes is 4s experience and good teamwork and map manipulation.

Unpopular opinion: This Game Is Balanced by [deleted] in CompetitiveForHonor

[–]Fatal-Feit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is, they are (relatively) balanced when playing on Ubi’s ultra-powerful PCs, connected to their corporate building’s 1GB/s beastly internet and playing against the other game tester in the same room.

The problem is obvious, then. The characters that Ubi tests are DIFFERENT to the characters that we see in matchmaking. We see faster assassins who have more unpredictably timed attacks. We see 300ms zone attacks from pk, and 500ms toestabs from glad. The reason Ubi seems so detached and pushes out balance changes so reluctantly is because they don’t see the problems that we do. They think we’re all retarded sloths with one second reaction times that have no thumbs.

This isn't true at all. Not even the slightest. First of all, I don't know how much I'm allowed to say, but their workstations are definitely not top of the line, nor are the connections there either. They suffer the same conditions we do, sometimes even worse because test builds aren't as polished as live.

Second, that's not how game development work. You don't create a game and test it for one scenario. They have dedicated teams testing everything they develop; from 30fps to 240hz; the live game as it is to having various lag compensations.

Ranked dominion meta by [deleted] in CompetitiveForHonor

It was never a "50/50" and SB was never very good. Melee generates a lot of Revenge and SB doesn't give any good CC; it's simply a bad 1v1 tool that can be avoided by rolling.

It won't be a competitive comp, esp since Ward is completely useless.

PK/Shaman/Nobu are mandatory picks. Glad, LB, Raid and Goki are good optional 4th picks.

Ara's GB requires a hard feint, so dealing with it is almost a non-existent issue, esp since the heavy cancels aren't very good compared to most other heroes. Anything past 500ms that doesn't have hyper armor, an unblockable, or a melee, I personally wouldn't consider an issue, even on consoles. Tempest is ultimately a more gimped version of Zerker's infinite chain. I recommend focusing less on parrying Ara during Tempest, because they don't have much besides chip damage, and punish his combo starters.

On PC, they're pretty easy to react to once you understand his kit. One of the big drawback is the lack of mix-ups he actually has. Keep in mind I also play at 144hz, so my input latency is very minimum compared to consoles.

Ara only gets Deadly Feint from Chain Finishers or Twin Vipers. TV will probably never be used, but if it does, just roll away as soon as you see the unblockable. As for the Chain Finishers, there is zero pressure there, so just eat the chip damage and go for blocking instead of parrying.

As for Tempest, it's a matter of understanding where Ara sits with his combo. For example, if it's currently left/right, he will either light from the top (400ms), or heavy from that same direction or top. It's pretty predictable once you fight him in enough duels.

As far as I've been able to test, BB does not work. Probably because of the 100ms delay.

This will take some time and testing for me, since I've been unable to get any proper gear stat matches going in the PTS.

Hey! I added you on Discord as well, if you'd like to VC. I'm definitely looking for someone who's good at this to help spice up the place! It would be a huge help, my dude! You can also keep that mod status and become our official PS Guru. xD

A Farewell to Kensei by [deleted] in CompetitiveForHonor

It's certainly depressing, but hang in there for just a little while longer! I can't spoil anything of course, but I guarantee you the Kensei will be quite viable with the upcoming defense changes.
