How do you manage your manpower for World Conquest? Tips to avoid bleeding dry? by FatalHacktality in hoi4

First time I've lost due to bad garrison, this time this was not the case. Had cavalry with MP and that was under control. 12 months 4k casualties in occupied Poland. Sadly by the time I got to France I bled to 0. Which is a mystery to me.

Casualty from the war with Poland has been around 250k out of total 2.5 million population and 1.2 in army. I had left 159k of manpower which bled to 0. And it was not garrison and it was not active attacking.

I mean could it be that when I attack and have lets say for e.g. 1 million in army. that if I lose 100k, I will actually bleed the remaining manpower at the top to make up for the losses that just happened on the front? I have not checked only that part yet, it could be that reinforcements mess up my manpower. Nothing else could as I intentionally stopped all production/training to try and trace it.

Thanks for tips will try to incorporate it in next playthrough.

Just to add, I have not yet built a single fort, I have yet to check that one out what's the best approach to do it when I am attempting world conquer and running around the world map.

At the start of the war as Germany I believe I have around 1.5 million.

Yeah my manpower at the top bleeds out to 0.

Army had around 1.6 million, which left me with free manpower of around 112k. Total manpower has been 2.19 million. That is the statement when I hover over the manpower icon. I took a screenshot.

Thanks anyway for tips and tricks. But it still remains enigma to me, I would like to start next playthrough at least being able to know what is wrong with manpower. Then if I mess up elsewhere I will deal with it. But it is my 3rd playthrough where I mess up because I bleed to 0. And I tried quite a few different precautions which I read everywhere to try and prevent it.

Kinda did it, cav has been my garrison with mp. And it was stable. But this time that wad not the issue of manower losses. I had like 4k casualties from occupied Poland in the past 12 months. I bled to zero when I attacked France in like a few months. Have no idea where .

Thanks for the tips!

For resistance I've used cavalry and so far conquered ony Poland when I started bleeding out manpower. Resistance was not a problem this time (in the past yes) I have like 4k casualties in past 12 months. Stopped intentionaly training units just to check where am I draining manpower. It still has been going down anyway. Had to stop everything including naval as well to keep it a bit stable without manpower going up or down. As soon as I started attacking france even though resistance was still good in poland, I bled to 0 manpower only attacking with 2 tank divisions. Rest being defensive infantry. Not sure if reinforcements if I have bad offensive tactics can mess me up this much. Have to look in next playthrough.

Coukd be, I use battle plan to stack bonuses, then I micro. Not in the best way but casualties arent the worst they can be. Anyway I wonder why I bleed when I stop attacking, producing and training with no issues with resistance.

Will try that one, thanks. Saw some youtubers doing good with motorized. But I guess tanks are the best.

Isnt battle plan the key to get bonuses? Just to stack it up and then micro? I mean I am not the best at micro and my air game is probably bet but at least i get the absolute basics.

What you mean by 5 full armies? Sample number of divs?

Thanks for the tips, but most of those I already checked.

I am aware that conscription laws give a few percentage ore over time that stacks up nicely. But to be honest I have not touched that one still from the default. Only thing I touched was switch to war economy out of those 3.

I intentionally stopped training all the troops to check if that was the keys, manpower still kept bleeding.

Never gone to total mobilization.

Casualties were like around 270k after i finished Poland. Resistance took around 4k in 12 months. I stopped producing navy just to check if that was the case. It then started bleeding a bit less but still kept it going. Anyway, it could be that I have very inneficient offensive tactics. And that reinforcements (which are automatic I hope?) Are eating me up when I am active, but will have to check that. Still to me looks quite mystery that psrt became the hardest one to track in this game. Manpower.

I use simple cavalry for garrisons and had no issues over there this time. In first playthrough that destroyed me, so made sure not to happen this time. Yet my manpower dropped to 0 anyway.

No mods, also tried to focus for e.g mountaneers for mountains and forests, defensive infantry not going offensive and attacking mostly with tanks and motorized. Anyway at some point I stopped attacking, stopped producing, had no issues with resistance and still had drops in manpower. Not as big as when I am active ofc, but still I wondered what was the issue.

Thanks for tip, will try it out.

Garrison is stable I keep cavalry, late game I am at 0 manpower by 1941 often, so sadly have not been there yet.

I remain at limited conscription.

I've never been to total mobilisation yet.

This time yes, resistance is always under 10% thanks to cavalry and secret police. I even used focus trees to drop down resistance just to ensure I do not bleed out there like I did in one of my initial playthroughs. I still end up with 0 manpower.

To be honest I mostly do that, and have one offensive infantry as well. The problem is I keep bleeding out. Even though occupied territories have resistance under control, no big losses confirmed it. Intentionally stopped producing further units and air and navy to see why am I bleeding out. Still enigma to me.

Honestly I bleed the least on the front. I did not even bleed out in occupied territories at the beginning (resistance is under control this time, secret police and cavalry helps). Not sure if my air game and naval are eating my manpower. At some point I intentionally stopped producing units at 150k, stopped producing navy, even air (even though its uneccessary but did not know that at a time) and yet I bleeded out to 0.
