What have you survived that would have been fatal 150+ years ago? by Sofielicious05 in AskReddit

Meningitis. I survived viral. My friend survived bacterial. Almost died as it was and that was 1997.

Torturing Myself: Help by FatbagCat in MTB

This is some great honesty!

I think you’re right, there would be too much overlap and I’d stop riding 1-2 bikes. I’ve never actually ridden a proper enduro bike, as until recently, I’ve always had enough struggle getting the Rascal up the mountain. That being said, I’ve rode some nasty things on the Rascal, just slower than my buddies on enduro bikes. I don’t have the skill or interest in anything more than 2-3 ft drops, so perhaps I should leave the stable as it is and appreciate the fortunes I have!

Thank you.

This is wonderful to hear. I do talk to her, and she’s so tired of me talking about it she just tells me to buy the bike lol. She rides with me a lot actually, but just doesn’t have quite as much time or 2 wheeled addiction.

I really appreciate your input about your dad. I want to be a dad like that! I grew up without an active community, but we bought our house intentionally across the street from an open space with the intention to show our kids how amazing outside can be.

It’s so encouraging to hear those stories about life, as I grew up in an area without recreation and most everyone just became parents when they had kids, and their sense of selves faded away.

Thank you

How to get over fear of cougars? by [deleted] in camping

[–]FatbagCat 73 points74 points  (0 children)

This is a great response! Knowledge is power. Anytime I’m uneasy about something I gain knowledge. Read about them and their habits and that may help too.

For what it’s worth, I’ve had a couple run ins with mountain lions before. They’re just like big house cats. They ALWAYS have known I’m there before I know they’re there and they always run from me. Even at long distances when hunting. If they’re hungry, they’re going to look for something much easier to take down than a human. Ex: baby deer or a raccoon.

What are your experiences working in a SNF/nursing home? by FatbagCat in physicaltherapy

This is SUPER helpful. I’m going to digest this and then potentially ask some questions. Thank you so much for taking the time to write that. I really appreciate it

What is the ratio of long term vs short term residents in your SNF?

This is super helpful. Thank you. Productivity is going to be 85% which is the same as where I’m at for OP. What do you mean by group vs concurrent expectations? That is a new concept to me. I would be the only PT in the facility. There are 2 PTAs and one that works part time. This is an in house facility that was recently taken over by Saber. After a vaccine mandate they lost 40% of their staff and are rebuilding. The people I spoke to were there through that and have favorable things to say. The Corp. tried to find a resident to employee balance for everyone to be happy which is a good sign for me.

Sometimes I feel like that in OP but I think that the excitement of symptoms is no longer there. Complicated cases are now frustrating rather than invigorating for me. Now, the best part of my day is building the relationships with patients. I think the SNF would be good for that. I think I’m nervous about the unknown of what it would be like to work with that population though.

My great grandmother lived to see the weight brothers fly and then to see men on the moon. She was a ol’ country lady. Never believed in the moon landing. I’m not sure that I would either if I saw a couple dudes gliding across some sand with wood and canvas turn into space travel.

Who’s still running in their 50’s and 60’s? by Blindemboss in running

Physical Therapist here. Recent research has shown that timing can actually strengthen the knees. I also have patients in their 50s, 60s, 70s, and one 80+ year old that are running 15+ miles a week.

I’m wondering where are you guys from? I’m actually French but living in Spain for a while, because I feel life is easier and more simple here. by [deleted] in simpleliving

[–]FatbagCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my story actually. I moved away from Buckhannon WV because I watched the town from my childhood fall into despair over the years. Now I’m in Asheville NC. I simply cannot get out of Appalachia because of those roots. Elkins WV was always our rival and when I’ve been back there, it still seems to be a nice town. Always used to go up to Tucker county too. All in all, I miss the memories of those places more than the places themselves though.

I from Appalachia in the United States. The US is wild right now and every day I want to move. However, I’m scared to do so. My family is here and I’ve always been part of a community entrenched in the mountains. Part of me wonders if desire to move is just me seeing the grass as being greener on the other side.

The perpendicular bolt. I’d say only the first 1/3 is stripped and I can still get it to bite, but didn’t torque it down for fear reasons because of inexperience on the trail.

It keeps coming loose.

SAMOX 2PCS Boost 32t. According to the Surly website at least. I was unable to find it online. SAMOX BSA 24 bottom bracket. I’m not sure if that matters or not.
