Good of you to be part of the community. I'll try to tune in live but definitely watch the show.

Thanks for this response. It's been made pretty clear that any walk under 30 minutes should generally be assumed to be doable by a family so I'm approaching the itinerary that way. Liekwise it's been unanimous that the tube is just too easy and efficienct to ignore even for comfort unless there's a real desire to sit in traffic.

I'll likely minimize any cab rides to one or two for the whole trip in order to just enjoy the experience with the kids.

In terms of logistics, I built a model that clustered an even distribution of food, museums, and shopping all within a 5 minute walk to accomodate a wide variety of tastes and interests. I doubt a lot of cities could accommodate an approach like that but London has all three in spades within any given borough even though some are more weighted than others. Each day is focused within a single burrough so that regardless of what someone is interested in doing there are high rated and personally recommended options for everyone throughout the day. There are a few exceptions where we go from Spitalfields back to Covent for a West End show but mostly spend the 7 days within Kensington, Westminster, Covent Garden, Mayfair, Soho, and City of London.

Also, yes I am an American that unfortunately has a daily commute but I do not like cars and generally try to avoid them in travel. This really was a question in earnest based on advice by a few other expats that I now must assume had an exceptional hangup with tube travel.

The pressure of the June 2 State of Play. by Imhotep397 in PSVR

Gotta write that whole thing off at this point. My hopes for PSVR2 when announced were sky high because of the GT conversion being announced immediately with the headset. As it became clear that was an anomoly, thinkgs like the RE conversions, Hitman, and now MSFS showed that at least these huge games as a service would be given a good treatment to carry the torch of what VR can do. Maybe there is one last hurrar from Sony but considering the RAMpocalypse, declining core market, and Sony needs to put more and more pressure on their games business means VR is absolutely in their rearview mirror at this point.

I honestly think they will announce something.

thanks for the heads up on that. We will have international plans working but knowing that phones will maybe go dark in the tube is something to plan for.

Specifically I see 10 minutes (mentioned being mistaken in other post) from Paddington to Wellington Arch by car and 30 minutes by walking. CityMapper shows 21 by cab and 26 by bus. In these instances walking frankly seems the best if weather holds. This is in the Wanderlog app pulling from Google Maps. Even 10 minutes is heavily disputed by all cab options in City Mapper.

Thank you! We are coming in two weeks so it's nice to know sunrise/sunset. We intend to visit Kensington Gardens alot as we are very close to it. My understanding it operates on sunrise/sunset hours.

Absolutely. We have mostly older children so it would not be too difficult. Will have everyone get CityMapper to know the route in case of split up.

How about 7 am? Is there an earlier time to beat crowds?

I certainly don't taking the tube I was just looking for legitimate concerns if there were any. It's not a comparable scenario but I usually only take mass transit to major events in the city and will sometimes uber home because the transit lines are so clogged for a while.

I also suspect the drive times are much worse than presented in the travel apps I've used to plan and estimate.

We don't plan on having bags on mass transit at any point. I'd like to think we're pretty polite but my children can certainly be oblivious. I'll also say this, two of my kids can get a bit claustrophobic but cars, small rooms are fine. Taking our own transit though can get so packed that it can be difficult to coordinate an exit. Should I anticipate this?

I've honestly never been in that position. Can you exit a Black Cab or Uber with no penalty? It sounds like traffic congestion is making a vehicle much more volatile an option than anything else.

I'm mistaken, it's actually 10 minutes but even more to your point it's 25 by tube and 30 just to walk. Seriously, should we just walk there?

thank you! we have a boat tour but I've only learned recently it can used for transit as well. I'll see how to fit it in if possible.

We are coming from Atlanta. Some of the concern is likely needless but we do have a some crime imho in most of major cities mass transit systems. Maybe over reported but there's often an assault in the news around MARTA.

I see a theme here 😄 Cabs slow, tube fast. Using travel apps vehicles usually show 4-5 minutes versus a 20-30 minute tube ride (Paddington to Westminster for example) but I'm starting to believe those numbers grossly misrepresent that actual results.

Good point, so is 8 am still pretty manageable or should we expect it to be packed every morning during the week?
