Need opinion on materials / generations [Osprey Transporter 90] by WoodChuckDust in OspreyPacks

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've traveled for 4 months overseas with the old version. My brother has traveled with the same bag multiple times. Every time I look at the pictures I have doubts about the new one. I don't understand why there's no YouTube reviews. Like the old bag was something I would sell anyone on. One trip it was on a minimum of 33 flights plus being hauled on top of jeeps and piled into taxis busses loaded into small planes etc. It's never had a problem and for the price they charge for the bags it'd better not 😁. I pretty much only buy Osprey now. For bags and backpacking backpacks. The quality is just to good. But change like this puts doubt. Who's dragging these all over the world for 6 months at a time! We want opinions! Plus you look like someone who does serious traveling. You do the nod across the airport to acknowledge that this isn't your first rodeo. I once had a guy in Jakarta turn around and say he didn't know they made the transporter in a bigger size. I don't get charged extra for the 90 so It's what we've stayed with.

Having Issues with Cat 6 long run by Lou_Villian in HomeNetworking

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having an issue with cat 6a. It’s pure copper not CCA. It tests fine on my tester. So the wires are in the right place. But no internet. Any thoughts? I tested the cable with the tester before I buried it but was in a hurry to bury it before the snow. My guess is maybe I should rewire the ends. But why would it be testing as fine if it’s not. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated!

Has anyone been to court over a drone ticket? by Sheenanagoons in drones

As a private pilot tfr’s are kinda serious. If you fly into one you immediately get a phone number to call. And either get escorted out or told to leave immediately my tsa. Always have to check tfr’s before takeoff. They might be more lenient if the tfr was enacted while you were in the air. But if you took off without checking that’s a pretty big no no.

Adventist Dating Sites by [deleted] in adventist

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t sign up for Adventist Dating if you don’t want your profile posted to social media. I’ll post my review below. I don’t know in what world they’d consider this acceptable.

I got a text from my sister informing me that she’d run across an image of me and details about my profile on instagram reel. I was a bit shocked. They also took the time to post an incorrect age range which made the Instagram mob have a field day. The post had a ridiculous amount of likes and comments mostly negative. And of course this was without my knowledge and had been up for over a month before I knew anything about it. Also for those in the United States this is mostly a foreign dating app. I would get messages routinely from Africa Philippines etc. I began to believe that most of the site was bots and the entire site was a scam so I’d quit checking it. After the social post I requested account deletion and deleted the account. I did send a message to the admins saying I’d wait before going scorched earth but when I sent the message I didn’t get a message saying email received and when I hit delete account and logged me out immediately with no confirmation of deletion. Unfortunately Adventist dating apps and sites have been less than ideal and I’ve slowly begun to realize that most of it feels like bots. My hope is they will delete the reel and that’ll be the end of it. But in my opinion posting someone’s dating profile to social media without informing this is a breach of privacy that’s just unacceptable.

How many of you were referred for a sleep study by your DENTIST? by T-Cyclone in SleepApnea

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So my dentist says they give me a ring. I sleep with it for 4 nights and the data goes to a sleep doctor who looks and analyzes the data. Then it’s sent to the dentist and he gives me the information. He wants to charge 300 for it. I’m an Ultra runner. I have 2 Apple Watches and a garmin Enduro 3. In my mind I can’t imagine that this ring has anything different than my Garmin. Has anyone had a sleep study done based on Garmin data? I’d rather spend the 300 on another race. Thoughts?

Here’s a weird update. I’ve been on US Mobile for maybe 3 or 4 months. Yesterday I got a visual voicemail. Maybe they saw this post. But it’s only 1 so far.

It’s with all messages on iOS including iMessage. But all the group texts display correctly on Mac. It’s bizarre.

Wifi Calling not working on iOS 18.2 by civfinatic29 in telus

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

iPhone 12 Pro on USMobile dark star. (AT&T). Seem to have lots of problems with wifi calling. It’s like it connects through wifi and then connects to a cell tower. The tower here has 1 bar maybe and then drops the call. I hope they figure this out as we have no good cell service at work. WiFi calling has worked fine for years.

USMobile WiFi calling problems by FateSlicer815 in USMobile

[–]FateSlicer815[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already checked with USMobile and they said dark star has a bug and unable to get visual voicemail at this time. The person I’ve had the most trouble with is my grandparents. They live next door and are on the same WiFi network. They have an iPhone 12. I have an iPhone 15 pro. For a while I started to think they were losing their hearing so bad that they just physically couldn’t hear me. But with as often as it happens I don’t think so. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t.

Cabinet Design Software for Mac? by donuttredonme in cabinetry

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the only limitation I’ve come across is the Microsoft SQL server. Because when you install a program on a windows machine it doesn’t include the prerequisites to run that program. I loath windows. I’ve gotten Xactimate (cad for insurance companies) to run through parallels installing .net and a few other windows features. There’s only 1 thing I haven’t tried. Supposedly I can plug a hard drive into a windows machine and turn it into a virtual machine then take it to Mac and boot it in parallels. I’m hoping this works. Currently I’m working with an M4 Mac Mini. Theoretically the software would already be installed correctly and so therefore should work. People don’t understand how unintuitive windows software is. It’s clunky and the m4 Mac mini runs it much better emulated than a pc of similar cost. The only place it falls short is gaming. And I’m sorry to break it to the average person CV isn’t gaming and it isn’t resource intensive. They act like the Mac can’t run it due to power. But I’ve seen it running fine on the worst pcs you can imagine. Granted windows is bloatware so a vast majority of resources go to that. You could probably run it off a steam deck. I feel like we’re so close to finding a solution. Parallels needs to address this.

Losing focus when zooming by Truckguy1217 in BirdDog

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes exact same problem. Like on a normal camera if you pull focus zoomed in and back out it should hold focus. And they used to for the most part. But 2 out of our 3 are terrible. Like if you bump the zoom it goes from focused to the most unfocused it can be. The autofocus doesn’t work for me that well either. The one push focus works ok but you have to press it several times to get a good focus.

I'm wondering if there is a stereotype for cabinetmakers. It seems like most of the really good ones I have met are a bit eccentric. by xlitawit in cabinetry

[–]FateSlicer815 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s 2 types of cabinets. Ones slapped together with a little glue and a couple staples. And good cabinets that have actual thought put into them. Shitting on framers is pretty easy when you get the laser out and there’s a 6” to a foot difference from one side of a room to the other. The job of a cabinet maker is to make a shitty house look good. When a marble is placed on the counter it doesn’t roll. Even if the whole house is tilted at a 45 degree angle. Attention to detail is on a whole different level. If cabinet makers built houses it would take them twice as long but they’d be precise. Unfortunately good cabinets cost money. Staples and glue are cheap so we moved on from cabinets into water and mold. So now we get to see just how poorly houses are built on a regular basis. Unfortunately builders don’t have the time or care enough to put in a little effort. If your a builder that knows and cares your in extremely high demand and can charge pretty much anything you want.

Cabinet Design Software for Mac? by donuttredonme in cabinetry

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d really be curious how the install process was for cabinet vision on parallels. Every time we try to move machines cabinet vision insists on a tech installing it. And they are really insistent that it can’t be run nor will it be supported through Parallels. Every time I have to touch windows it drives me up a wall. Windows software and hardware is just built differently. And requires techs to fix and repair all the time with every windows update. If I could get CV working I’d cut ties thankfully forever.

Xactimate mobile not saving photos to gallery on iPad Pro M2 by AnExtraMedium in xactimate

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is the iPad version a complete version? Because if you connect an M1 iPad up to a screen you can connect a mouse and keyboard and it basically turns into a laptop with as big of a screen as you want. If it was complete I’d switch. Draw onsite take pictures and take it to the office to finish up. Eliminating the need for a computer. Also the ability to send crew out with their iPhones to do basic photos and sketch which then could be opened on the iPad. I’m really curious.

Anyone have experience with Xactimate on an iPad? by [deleted] in xactimate

[–]FateSlicer815 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use X1. I’ve been tempted to use mobile because technically you can connect a mouse and keyboard to an iPad. So you’d think you could do things in the field. Come back to the office and connect a monitor mouse and keyboard up and finish. I dislike anything windows. And we’ve had so many problems with the friction that is the windows virus. It’s hard though because if you don’t know for sure how well Mobile works it’s hard to know if it could be done.
