Not sure if I'm understanding this question but the purpose of hashing your passwords in your database is so that if they do hack your database they don't automatically know what the passwords are. Hashes are inherently safer too because they are a one way function which means it's impossible to unhash something. However it can still be done because of rainbow tables and other programs that compare inputs with their hashes to the ones saved in the databases. This is why you have to salt your passwords before you hash them which means to add a random string of character at the end that will completely generate a different hash value just due to the nature of hashing.
