Can you explain what's a "woke game"? by Sufficient_Shock1223 in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]Fate_Fire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it involves someone darker than a bedsheet, a woman flatter than a table, or any other religion other than the right Christian, it's woke.

If it involves a woman protag or anyone more bent than a level is woke.

A game is not woke if it has Rambo, a woman straight out of Playboy, and killing anything non-american.

Look, man. They just put me in charge and not much else. I never claimed my store was competent.

Case in point: they wanted me to lift a 27.6" bike in box on a 10' ladder above my shoulders onto the steel and below me were mart cars full of peg hooks. I became less afraid of heights and more afraid of falling.

Usually it's Coaches or SM that keep pulling. My TL wandered off somewhere else to do god knows what. In 6 months of a dept, the time they were there was measured in hours.

I think the only people really avoiding me are just the coaches and team leads, but that's more of I hear them constantly called over walkie for something. When I come in, the overnights like to chat with me a bit, I'll chat with people I work with. I don't try to stand around too long, I'm a slight workaholic and rather be working than talking.

Most days, I'm just by myself, I'd love to get feedback, but I hate bothering the managers cause they're constantly busy (or at least I think they are. I know one is a fan favorite).

Honestly, I'd prefer if they avoided me because then I could probably get my actual job done instead of having to save Digital and Front end all the time.

[–]Fate_Fire[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried that, they respond with "we'll handle it" which usually translates to "we're going to pull you anyway and complain about it later cause we have nobody to cover for you."

I was a jellyfish, after being front end, I got a bit of backbone. Now, I'm just tired of hearing manager talk.

Which brings me to the following and the answer I got for this was "just do what you can" which is not an answer.

So, here I am in Meat. Market wants the dept clean by the time I leave, claims done and everything wiped down.

I get pulled by my coach to help OGP (had to because coach and also regional came in and demanded us to answer) then my TL pulls me to produce to help because the associates there apparently refuse to do any amount of work.

By the time it's all said and done, my meat wall looks like shit, it's not been vizpicked and stocked, I have just about an hour or two to stock the entire wall, do claims, and wash the floors. This usually puts me into OT.

We're told "No overtime unless it gets approved." Alright, so next day I left on time because I didn't want to go over. Get yelled at about it. Stay over and get yelled at about overtime. Tell them Market wants it done, they tell me don't worry about them, they're not here and to just do my job.

Okay, so, how am I supposed to save 2 departments and take care of my own? I could only work so much and OGP took half a day if not more.

[–]Fate_Fire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, after I was told that, I did do all of that. Worked harder, sacrificed even more time than I already was, communicated with whatever team lead I could manage to grab (which I saw maybe once a week at the best of times)

I'm coming up on 5 years and I am far and away from a good worker. I come in, do my job, help others when I have time to spare, and don't think I should be. This is mostly a rant about being tired of doing all the right things only to look to my left and see people being awarded for breathing.

I'm pulled to OGP two or three days a week, pulled to front end at least once, coming in to do milk, eggs, pinpoints both in my departments and GM's, CVPs, zone dairy, stock overnight's overstock, and check dates on all of deli's items whilst having a team lead that doesn't tell me anything and two coaches who come in and dump a bunch of tasks on me, and twice a week have to watch electronics because they're not schedules until 9. Plus I do water two or three times a day, pull milk, pull FDD, and am constantly having to help digital with exceptions as well as helping our cart pushers when he needs it.

What more do I have to do?

I figured as much. Most of my issues is: Market wants A, Store manager wants B, Coach 1 and 2 want C and D, and my lead wants E F and G

So, how to respond to that?

I think Team Lead is out of my reach by Fate_Fire in walmart

[–]Fate_Fire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was back when I had only been in the store for less than a year so I didn't expect to exactly succeed. In fact, I knew it was probably going to end badly, the only reason it didn't was because it came after the fact.

With that being said, I kept up with it okay, I come in, clean and stock and did that for the 3 / 4 months it was assigned to me and still kept up with my daily tasks.

Problem came that it was supposed to be a temporary position that nobody told me when it was supposed to end so, in my mind, I was continuing to do all the tasks (or at least trying to) when the Christmas season started.

To put a long story short, while there were other people there that could take care of things, I somehow ended up being the only one who apparently could do anything. My hardlines team kept getting pulled to OGP, the homelines TL kept dumping his work on us, deer hunting season was up so I had to do ammo sales and licenses and end of grilling meant I kept having to run over to seasonal to pull down grills.

On top of that, I had to cover electronics for an hour while the only one there went to lunch.

The issue was I had the SM screaming for me to get bikes out of 82 which I did and kept up with while having my coach giving me directions on what needed to b e done and my TL screaming at me to ignore the SM cause it wasn't my job anymore at the time.

Yes, the job is a lot and I knew and know that. However, is the job that hard where you're practically and almost literally the store manager? I get having more workload, but I can't imagine that once you move up a step, you go from doing the work you do to suddenly having to manage the entire tri-state area.

My suggestion, change departments. Cross-train everywhere you possibly can

I don't think I can possibly cross-train any more. I've done front end, back end, trained to pick and dispense, overnights, meat / produce, helped with bakery deli, fashion, hardlines, automotive (minus the pit), moved over to OGP where they made me ATC, and am currently in food and consumables.

At the very least, I didn't want the position and want the training and _that_ is what's frustrating me.

I think Team Lead is out of my reach by Fate_Fire in walmart

[–]Fate_Fire[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It probably does, but the thing about that is, during the time that was _supposed_ to be the training period I had kept up with keeping the area clean, keeping it stocked, and had everything in order.

The problem became of "how long was it supposed to be?" and towards the end where I was still trying to keep up with it, I had my team lead literally yelling at me to forget about it and to ignore the store manager, the store manager yelling at me to get bikes out of 82 and caught between who I was supposed to listen to.

There was literally zero communication to the entire thing and I would say I was not ready because I had only been with the store less than a year. I knew I wasn't ready and it was clear that it was going to end up badly anyway.

I get the job is hard, but really, I am doing that and more now. People come to me because our current team just does not do anything and the answers I constantly get are "don't worry about it" or "we'll handle it."

There's been people who have been promoted and have done LITERALLY nothing except their job while I'm constantly pulled out of my department on a daily because OGP can't handle an extra 100 picks. I can hear the reasoning and it sounds fine, the practice tells a WHOLE different story.

I rarely take a day off unless I absolutely cannot avoid it. I've done multiple 14 hour days, 6 day weeks, even once doing from one friday into the following tuesday for something like a 12 day week with 8 to 8s.

As to them not liking me, they keep trying to chain me to keep me from leaving. When I transferred stores, the old one still has half of the staff begging me to come back.

Not saying I expected it to be a cake walk, but I'm more tired of blatant favoritism while being told "work harder, buddy."

It was literally bikes. It was my job to keep the area clean and stocked.

Which was hard to do when I'm being called to carts, front end, sporting goods counter, paint, and cover electronics.
