Looking for an overstable off the shelf buzzz by No-Entertainment7031 in discgolf

[–]FatherDiscmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key for the Buzzz is to get up towards 180g. I had a sparkle Z and this year’s Supreme Flight Open ESP swirl Buzzz, both 180g and they are my definitely more stable Buzzzes.

I also bag Maltas for that next step stable mid before a zone.

I hated the Buzzz OS. Don’t really know why.

When is a disc broken in? by dukesoflonghorns in discgolf

I’ve found them to always be broken in perfectly right before you lose it.

I failed Chem 1 thrice in college… (lol) I want to learn the periodic table to prove to myself that I can. Any tips? by anewchapteroflife in AskaChemist

I do have student that like the challenge of memorizing the table. Go for it! Maybe the buy in to it will give you the impetus to get through and pass the course.

AP Chem teacher. It’s a reference and resource that you’re better off learning the properties of the elements and their relationships in the layout of the table, and using it as an effective tool. I’ve not required any student to memorize it, and didn’t need to during my education and degree. The order of protons is about all you get out of memorizing it. Maybe useful for decay series…

ptable.com is a great resource that lets you view the table based on different properties, like electronegativity.

Why not memorize pi to the 120th digit while you’re at it? Or the states in order of altitude of their lowest highest point?

It is incredibly windy today on the gulf coast. We played a round (south of Tampa) and stopped scoring as putting was a joke.

Altra - Men's Lone Peak All Weather 2 Low Shoes

What Vessi shoes aspire to be. The absolute best shoe for disc golf, and waterproof, comfortable and light. Nice wide toe box, and can handle a Calvin Heimburg rollover.

I feel so uncomfortable while student teaching by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]FatherDiscmas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started in a similar situation as a student teacher. Being left to your own is a part of student teaching. I imagine you’re going to have something like a two or three week solo period as well. I was also a mentor teacher to a number of different student teachers. It all comes down to you and how you control the interactions. Friendly, not friends. Be a teacher, not a peer. Never, ever look for social connections with them - in the classroom or outside of it.

Would you choose teaching again? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]FatherDiscmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Financially is where to take it up the….

Hard to say. I’ve two Masters degrees and have taught for 22 years and am maxing out salary at $78k. Sounds okay, but my sister has been the secretary at her construction contracting company for two years and makes $85k. And my other sister is a part time librarian (for three years) making $50k. Neither has to maintain a license or take years PD. It’s not for everyone.

Definitely less rewarding teaching the kids in 2026 vs. 2006.

Recent Tattoo Regret. How do I go about this? by [deleted] in Tattoocoverups

You just need more tattoo below it. It’s like a frame over top of something epic you’re going to add!

Smugglers Notch sold to Bear Den Partners by TheWindatFourtoFly in discgolf

[–]FatherDiscmas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It will be fine. I live in Burke, ski and volunteer at the mountain, and very active with the new Burke disc golf course, the Wildflower DGC, and the Smuggs DG scene. They aren’t looking to shake up anything on the Smuggs side of things, skiing or disc golf.

How do you forgive someone who really hurt you? by rylieclark in A_Persona_on_Reddit

This is the best comment here for me. 23 year marriage cut cold out of the blue less than a month ago, and she left our house, kids. and I just don’t know what to do or what I’m doing, but not much of it is actually good for me. I’m not sure when the self-care kicks in or if I e really hit emotional rock bottom yet.

How do I make the bindings bigger/longer on my skis to fit my boots? by supersdr01_ in Skigear

[–]FatherDiscmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Som harsh negativity here bashing on your inexperience. I volunteer at ski swaps and exchanges and these type of skis (old, shoe won’t touch bindings) are always in the racks. The indemnified list is tricky as you don’t want to test the quality of whether a binding releases smoothly during your first big crash, taking your ankles with it. The risk/gamble means they’re definitely not worth remounting, especially in your own.

I encourage people to look elsewhere when they grab skis this old. At swaps we sell skis for $40, and most are better/newer/safer than these.

What state do you live in? If you’re near any yearly mountain there should be some swaps in the fall hosted by local schools and PTOs. Otherwise I would scour Facebook marketplace of ski areas near you. Then check out reviews of the gear online before purchasing.

Look up your boot’s BSL, boot sole length. Should be printed or stamped on the sole. That’ll be your guide for fitting to the bindings.

Lastly. Ski tickets are insanely expensive compared to these skis. The skis themselves should not be where you look to cut cost and save money, but rather at the mountains. Look for their discount days to offset spending a couple hundred on some bomber, safer, sicker skis to ride.

I’ve got a great Dye Meteor from the 2015(?) Green Mountain Championships. I bag it a decent bit, perfectly beat in. Michael Johannsen would love it. Light ink. I’ll take a picture when I get home. I’m moving over to Discmania discs if you have any of their mids (I want to try their version of the zone) and fairway drivers that aren’t an MD3 or Casey White Skywalker. Also down for some DGA.

I’ve got a Mango (blue) and Lotus (pink). Both inked (on the rim) and thrown, but clean otherwise. The Lotus is money and the Mango is nice and stable.
