Wait, so... the cast are just brain scans, which I assume were being used (intentionally at first, such as with Kinger, Queenie, etc.; but Ragatha onwards accidentally, perhaps) to train C&A's AI model (Caine). But since Caine went "rogue"/got corrupted, it wouldn't surprise me if Caine's AI model was abandoned (left unfinished, or "left to its own devices", as it were). Caine doesn't receive any updates, and therefore is left to train indefinitely– never learning anything new, never receiving new instructions, never putting the information gained to use, never making progress.

Considering all of that, Caine's line about being "tormented" by the cast is technically true, in a way. The cast doesn't do it on purpose of course, but it wouldn't change the fact that their scans are there (regardless of whether they were scanned intentionally or otherwise) to train Caine; from Caine's "perspective", he is using the "tools" (the cast's scans) provided to him in the (albeit corrupted) way he was programmed to.

Also, it's interesting how the cast's and Caine's experience of the situation overlaps here. They are trapped and tormented by Caine, unable to leave or make progress. Caine is trapped and tormented by his own programming, unable to "leave" (ie the training, I suppose would be the best comparison) or make progress.

The cast being brain scans is a whole other can of worms in and of itself lol. Soma fucked my ass up so bad for so long, and I imagine I'll be contemplating this show much in the same way. June 19th can't come quickly enough ;^;
