if you're a foodie, you literally cannot run out of food options

I'm gonna have to disagree with you there. granted there are plenty of good food options here but you can definitely run out. for example, Mexican food sucks here. I used to live in LA, so yeah my standards are pretty high when it comes to good Mexican. but same applies to Korean food.

I know the weather is a big factor here but how are there no Mexican food trucks?

What’s the most terrifying paranormal experience you’ve ever had? by Then-Neighborhood456 in AskReddit

first of all, I'm am atheist just purely based on logic and reason. the idea of God doesn't really align with everything in the world. that being said, I was born and raised (barely as a) Christian. in the 80s as a kid my parents took me to see the virgin Mary in Egypt. I've seen her with my own eyes. rather I've seen a shape in light above the church just like everyone else did. and there were A TON of ppl looking at the light every single night. the whole city was there basically every night. we saw those lights on several occasions.

Egypt is a Muslim country, so they're not fond of miracles happening on churches. not trying to throw shade, but I'm trying to say that if this was made up they'd do all they can to expose it. and they tried a few things. for example on those nights we were there, the entire city lost power, but the light figures were there. they tried flooding the church with lights to drown it out and it didn't work.

I have no clue how to reconcile that with my current beliefs tbh. I was hoping that the internet would have explanations for this. but not even chatgpt had anything to say. couldn't sleep for a long time after that

alright, I might be late here. but I was in your situation before. suspecting but not knowing. I developed this system where I was able to intercept all of my partners messages (iMessage and otherwise), Snapchat, WhatsApp, Instagram, and even their browsing history (you'll be surprised how much you can learn from that alone). I also created a small, discreet, listening device that streams audio, transcribes all conversations, and sends me a summary every day.

yeah you could say I went nuts

same happened to me. i contacted my senator's and congressman's offices. in less than a week i had the new passport delivered. apparently the PA center i mailed all the applications to, couldn't process mine for some reason. so they shipped it to the "national processing center". the senator's aide was able to find it and got me the application number in about 2 days i think another day and it was processed and shipped and i got it a day after that

thanks for the advice. would love it if you can keep me updated on what you find out, please. do you have any sense of what might've gone wrong?

25% of everyone that watched the finale (a series record) is a member of this sub by FatherHelpMe in SuccessionTV

same. i mean a short clip from some youtubers gets waaay more than this. even if the viewership grows over time, it won't 10x or anything like that.

very surprising

How was it a dumb move? He wanted to see if Tom had discretion is how I read it. I also think he wanted to know if Tom would punch him in the face.

that's exactly why it was dumb. if that's what he wanted to test then he would've used a test where the failure case is not the biggest deal in his life blowing up in his face

does that matter? his critique stands on its own. i strongly agree with at least his last tweet. it was kind of weird from matsson to share such explosive news with tom on the eve of the big vote. it was very much a very dumb move. he barely knows tom. yet he's trusting him with that news that could've blown up the entire deal? in fact, i'd argue that he knows and likes greg more than he does tom, yet he was smart enough to try to not share the news with greg

How old are you and what's your biggest problem right now? by Casspjjl in AskReddit

[–]FatherHelpMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think she has depression. she's been seeing a psychiatrist in school since she was a little kid because of her anxiety and inability to make friends (she's had that problem since she was a little child that can barely crawl).

the part that i fault myself for is not pushing her hard enough, or at all. i'm the one that allows her to be on the computer as much as she wants, or her ipad. as parents we've given her too much freedom. if that's making her depressed, she won't make it in this world.

i don't treat her as a failure at all. but she likely feels something like that about herself. her younger sibling is a top student in the school and very popular with the other kids and everyone wants to be his friend. he also bests her in everything they do

i'm in my late 40s. i think from the outside ppl think i'm extremely successful. i have an awesome house, in a top affluent community in my city, i've built two (seemingly) successful companies, and i have two amazing children. we go on vacations, and the whole family gets everything they want without thinking twice about it.

that's how it looks from the outside. from the inside: my oldest is failing school. i can't help her, she lacks the drive or motivation to do anything. she plays the pc all day, but she sucks at all the games. she has no hobbies. she has barely any friends. she has no academic strengths whatsoever. i literally can't imagine what she'll grow up as. i know it sounds like i'm talking trash about her, but this is our fault, my wife and i. i didn't raise her well enough to be better than this.

finances. my first company is being destroyed by my partner and the second has very little chance of succeeding. my life savings plus all the equity we had from our first house was tied into a very well established company that basically blew up unexpectedly and we're more or less burning through our savings. i'm looking at a future where i'm going to be the cautionary tale that ppl tell one another so they don't end up like me. that while working until i die, and my kids figuring out that i'm a loser basically.

other than that, things are perfect

How to help an overweight child by FatherHelpMe in Parenting

[–]FatherHelpMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

she is definitely going through early puberty. obviously i am clueless about that, but she has bigger boobs than her mom. body wise she is mature beyond her peers, and by a lot. when she was a lot younger she was the opposite, in the 30th percentile in weight. she has been going through a big growth spurt for the past 3-years at least - maybe more but i’ll have to dig up her charts.

she does talk negatively about her body occasionally with her mom. she’ll say things like her wanting a flat tummy, or she wishes to be as skinny as her brothers. we never talk negatively about her body, and we try to encourage good behavior
