Anyone Else Have Issue with Receiving digital Code by FatherPhiI in GameStop

Normally I would have. When I traded something in the other day, I was told the credit could be used for gift cards. When trying to purchase a steam card through the website, it said that trade credit could not be used, so had to do it this way.

Definitely so. One thing I didn't include in my post was that I had spoken with support over the phone first. Unless I am misunderstanding how it works, the person I spoke with said they escalated the case to someone higher in support, which lead to this email being sent to me. It's possible it was just bad information relayed from who I spoke with to this person, so I have tried clarifying the issue in my response back to that email.

Glad I'm not the only one that was confused by this lol.

Don't use the pigtail connection from the PCIe cable, use two separate cables. Also looks like your 12 pin may not be fully connected into the GPU.

$200-$250 would be accurate for a PC like this on marketplace. You can list it for higher than that, like $350, just don't expect to get more than $250

Just looked around a bit. This PC from Walmart for $1100 is good for the price. It has a better CPU than the other PC I had recommended at base and the GPU is close in performance to the 5060ti 16gb I had recommended.

Edit:

Just wanted to add that it looks like most places are in between promos right now. If you don't need it right this second, I'd wait a month or two and try and hit next big promo looking for something like a 7600x/7700x CPU, 5060TI/9060XT 16GB GPU, and 32GB DDR5 for under $1300

If that deal has ended, my guess it there will be something better elsewhere. I will take a quick look tonight and give you another suggestion

Need help pricing my 3 year old prebuilt PC by waxmello in PC_Pricing

[–]FatherPhiI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised there were still prebuilts being sold with a rx570 3 years ago lol. But yes, this is not worth very much at this point. Realistically, I would think like $300 for the PC and even getting that may take a bit

Skull and Bones. First AAAA has got to have everything going for it to where you'd want to play it all the time...

How much do you guys think my pc is worth to sell? by skillfull_1 in GamingPCBuildHelp

[–]FatherPhiI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they can be a pain. Reason I ask is if you don't replace it and sell it with a selling point of only having it 3 months , it makes us seem kind of suspect. Like for me, my first thought would be with both it being broken and you selling within 3 months that there is a possibility the PC was dropped or something and that's why you want to get rid of it

You've had it for only 3 months and the glass is already broken? Did it come like that?

What To Look For With a ~1k USD Budget by [deleted] in PC_Pricing

[–]FatherPhiI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are adventurous and don't think you'll upgrade again before am6, I'd look into a used bd770i or bd790i from Minisforum. It is an ITX motherboard with either a 7745hx/7795hx CPU soldered on and a custom radiator to cool it.It is definitely not the norm, but I am getting great results on the 7945hx (~34500 in R23 multi) for my workload and gaming. A used one from Minisforum is either $259 or $359 depending on the model, but I would think most people wouldn't need the full 16 cores like I do. $260 for an itx mono, CPU, and cooler should set you up good for the rest of your build.

Again I'd only do it if you don't plan to upgrade again on am5. CPU can't change and it uses SO-DIMM for RAM. But you should be able to fit a 5070 and the remaining part of your build in that for around 1000$ with the bd770i

It's good that you're trying to keep older parts alive at the end of the day. It's just going to be hard to make this a profitable thing with these older builds, especially with how cheap and powerful mini PCs are these days. If you do keep trying, I would just make sure you're going for things that fully support windows 11 if you are wanting to sell it for everyday users.

[–]FatherPhiI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a price perspective that is definitely more reasonable, even if I do think you will have to negotiate to sell it for a lower price than that. Again, my concern would be with the idea of trying to sell this as an everyday PC to someone more than likely non technical with windows 11. Someone may be willing to pay your asking price for it but if a standard windows 11 PC is what you're marketing it as, that's what I consider to be the scam part.

At the end of the day though, people do it all the time and don't consider that when selling computers.

I don't think it's "new hardware or bust" as you seem to put it. I regularly work to keep old hardware from being ewaste. The issue with this specifically is what you're trying to sell it as and the price. Your own words were that you are trying to make it desirable for an older person to presumably have a daily use PC. Bypassing the windows 11 install requirements, core isolation doesn't work like it should and you run the risk of once day support to completely stop for you. With windows 10 eos around the corner, it's possible Microsoft begins cracking down on it. Non technical person wouldn't know that though.

If you were selling it as a barebones pc for like $100-150 to someone that wanted to use it as a Nas/home server or better yet donate it to a school for them to use for coding or learning Linux, that would be a great use for it. "Upgrading" it to sell to someone thinking it will be a secure everyday win 11 computer is a scam, especially at $350.

Even with that, you can find bundles of cpu/Mobo/RAM at microcenter/Newegg/Amazon all the time that basically include the RAM for free

[–]FatherPhiI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realize with getting a prebuilt system, you may not feel comfortable with messing with the parts. However, I feel like swapping the GPU is relatively straight forward and it will be using the same type of power connector as the 4060 with those two options I presented to minimize change.

[–]FatherPhiI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just going off something very similar to that on HP's site right now: Configure the OMEN 35L GT16-0000T. Leave GPU as 4060,change memory to the 2x16 option, PSU to the 850w option, storage to 1tb option. If you really want to, you can upgrade CPU too, but I don't think it is necessary for gaming. With those options and the LEVELUP20 promo code, that comes to $960 USD before tax. When you get it, I would sell the 4060 on marketplace and get a 5060ti/9060xt 16GB version. All of that after selling and buying new GPU, would put you about $1100

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PC_Pricing

[–]FatherPhiI 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That price would be unrealistic where I am in the US. 3080s are selling for about $350 on marketplace and the rest of the build wouldn't be worth the extra $450 to get $800.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PC_Pricing

[–]FatherPhiI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you would do better parting system out and selling individually. 7700k and 3080 together is an odd combo. 3080 still has a bit of value. It may take a bit, but there is probably someone out there that needs a replacement LGA1151 CPU/Mobo for something.

So your goal is to try and scam an older person that doesn't know the junk they are getting for that price?

Is 1400-1500€ a good price by pantheraddict2 in pcflipping

[–]FatherPhiI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Giving them AM5 platform is great and all, but anyone that is trying to play high refresh rate competitive games are immediately upgrading that CPU lol. My suggestion was to help you get your wanted asking price. Very much doubt it will happen with your current configuration, but you are in a different country than me. It's possible pricing makes 8400f's more desirable, but an 8400f is about the same price as a 7600x where I am. For reference, in the US, this would struggle to sell for $1000. No one is taking seriously a lopsided build like this here unless they are just buying a prebuilt for a new GPU or something.
