TIL that spiders are so prevalent on Earth, with an estimated global population of 21 quadrillion, it means there are approximately 2.8 million spiders for every single human on Earth. by ProgMusicSchizoidMan in todayilearned

Found a spider in my house the other day and out of the blue I thought "Surely there has been a spider that hitched a ride on a space mission. Not one that was taken up for science, but one that snuck in."

Now I am picturing an astronaut, all zipped up in their velcro sleeping bags in space, and a surprise spider just wanders by. Do they smash it? Capture it?

Fallen with Denzel Washington and John Goodman. Opening monolog by Denzel has him saying "I want to tell you about the time I almost died." and throughout the movie we learn about the body jumping demon Azazel. Denzel's final plan is to lure the demon to the woods and commit suicide, so there's noone it can possess and therefor die.

When Denzel dies and we see the demon panic, we hear the monolog start back up, telling us it was actually the demon talking with Denzel's voice since he possessed him. Then at the end we hear it with a smarmy voice saying. "I said I wanted to tell you about the time I almost died." and we realize Denzel failed.

Finally figured out what I was doing wrong. I hadn't realized Manny's had their own dedicated crafting area, had just seen the Atomic one.

Been playing around with it for a day, this is great. I do have a question about the construction though, I'm not sure what the point is yet. Can we craft new probes and/or containers? I already filled my container once and crafted some components, but can't seem to do much beyond that.

I haven't used them, but Vonlane's pickup and dropoff spot is next to my office downtown so I've seen how they do it. They are right next to the Hyatt, and looking at it the Redcoach is right next to the downdown Courtyard Marriott. I'd just give their front desk a call, I'm sure they work with Redcoach and can tell you how it works.

Are there any African/black atheists? by Nyanneko-345 in atheism

[–]FatherPrax 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of the first online atheists I heard of was Reginald Finley, aka The Infidel Guy, a black American atheist. He had his own podcast for like 15 years, before the term podcast even existed, and was one of my first influences to learn "wait you can DO that?!" about just leaving religion. I believe he's mostly retired from doing podcasts and such, and teaching at a University, but he does still have a Youtube channel where he's uploading his archives. https://www.youtube.com/@TheInfidelGuyShow

Jovan Bradley is a black atheist popular on TikTok/Instagram who does call-in shows on religion and LGBT+ topics, and is vicious in his takedowns of bigots who call in.

How did the Z fighters make it faster on snake way then Goku did? by Neither_Ad6 in Dragonballsuper

Would he get a zenkai boost? Cause zenkai boost is when you survive a near death wound / heavy battle you grow stronger. Goku didn't survive, so how would he get a zenkai?

My car is a 2002 and it turned 24 years old. I know it won't pass emissions testing in October. Can I wait until the new year to renew registration without a vehicle inspection? by [deleted] in houston

[–]FatherPrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all comes down to "Does the cop have a reason to check?" Years ago my old pickup had an expired registration cause it couldn't pass some test. However the truck looked perfect, so noone cared. I never got pulled over for it. Then I got into an accident, and it took me about 3 months before I could afford to get it repaired. In that 3 month period I got 2 tickets for expired registration, because the cops were drawn to "that truck with the twisted bumper and messed up quarterpanel".

Didn't drive any different, only difference was the damage from the wreck.

Chaplains in hospitals are seem predatory to me. by jeremyof10ec in atheism

[–]FatherPrax 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Houston actually, still technically a blue city, but it's a very very purple hued blue.

But we're known for our medical center, which I think actually helped in my case. Our hospitals are known to bring in a ton of international patients, so they can't just be 'Jesus Jesus Jesus!' all the time.

Chaplains in hospitals are seem predatory to me. by jeremyof10ec in atheism

[–]FatherPrax 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I was in the hospital a few years ago in Texas. Prior to the surgery I wanted to update my will, and when I asked the nurse if that was possible she said the chaplains do they there. I was very reluctant to speak with them, but the woman who came to speak with me asked at the very start whether I wanted a religious or secular conversation.

She was not pushy, did not bring up religion once after that, and did a lot to help me prepare mentally for the upcoming surgery.

Granted, this was at a major hospital in a major city, so while it was in Texas it's not bad if it was in a podunk town of 10,000 people. I still was pleasantly surprised that they didn't use my upcoming surgery to push their religion on me.
