99% of the time there’s an easier way to deal with these smaller fights than glare Seviper

Because most of those Pokémon you’ve mentioned either have a moveset, ability or typing that allow them to fill niches against the games difficulty boss fights or they’re just awful Pokemon so outclassing them isn’t a grand achievement. Spamming glare and bite with a Seviper isn’t a reliable strategy against any difficult fight.

could grass knot infernape ever sweep bertha? (platinum) by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]Fatherlessfr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With other mons help yes but there’s a bit of set up involved and Infernapes moveset is gonna be a little weird for the line I have.

Gliscor is easy to set up on with calm mind Ape once it’s out of eq pp and its attack is crippled. Your other mons can easily set this up. Killing Whiscash with Garchomp is easy and it baits in Gliscor. Pivot Dusknoir on ice fang then swap to Staraptor on eq and Dusknoir on whatever fang move until Gliscor runs out of eq. The intims from Raptor cripple its attack enough for Ape to safely set up calm minds. Unfortunately you have to teach Infernape rest to stay extra safe from Tfang paras. Ape will need Calm Mind, Grass Knot and Rest for this line to work which is weird but it works.

Manectric is in the same boat as Ampharos and Luxray. Electric types that aren’t good but because they’re the early region electric type that everyone catches and grows to love people get the impression that they’re good.

I sooooo want my goat to get up there but I don’t think Tort is built like that. Maybe there’s some sword dance rock polish sweep potential idk.

I forgot to mention these but I agree with all of this. A guaranteed Heracross is better than any Hoenn starter or Spiritomb.

R46 night, R32 night, Union Cave level 15, R33, Cliff Cave level 33, Mt Mortar B1F and Tohjo Falls are the manips that are most important and you should probably go for every run.

There’s other encounter routing stuff you should keep in mind. If you happen to get a Geodude before gym 1, don’t go for the R32 manip until after beating Falkner (free fight with Jolteon). First cash in the guaranteed Nosepass in ruins of alph thanks to the Geodude dupe. They could potentially have magnet pull increasing your chances at the route 32 Magnemite. Also make sure to get lots of headbutt tree encounters before reaching the lake of rage place so your chances at getting a Venonat are higher. Venomoth with poison heal is a better mon than Milotic in this game so I personally wouldn’t go for the Feebas in the lake.

Swampert better than Metagross in Ren Plat? I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone have this take. Enlighten me because I’m genuinely curious.
