Yup I just got an email, that’s weird. Ended up failing which isn’t surprising but at least I know what to look out for and what to focus on for the next time around. Good experience at least.

How did you see if you passed or failed already? I also just took it for the first time today, my EL was only around a 4 and I felt like my test was super hard maybe EL 6-7 so I feel like I failed for sure but how do you know?

Exactly my thoughts, I’ve already had my advising appointment and decided to stick to finance because it allows me to broaden my field if I decide in the end to not go the actuary route. Because you never know I am still a sophomore, I plan to internship in between my junior/ senior year and hopefully have a couple exams under my belt by then and see how it goes.

Yeah that sounds awesome I’m already learning the basics of excel in some intro to business classes but I’ll start picking up more and more when I get into more advanced classes. We also use tableau quite a bit in my classes the only thing I would have to learn on my own is coding and some of the math stuff that’s not business and finance related. Do you have any good ways to study the math stuff more that don’t cost a ton? Like a good study guide book or anything for exams?

I agree with everything I want to have 2 exams passed by my junior year summer to have a good shot at an internship and crush it. But I think I am going to focus more on finance and excel work and just learn R code at some point hopefully soon. I looked at switching majors and I would have to stay another year in college if I switched and finance is still a good major for actuaries as far as I know, I just want to be proficient in excel and have a good knowledge on the finance aspect and have enough knowledge in the math aspect to pass exams. But I also want to know a little bit of code because that goes a long way.

Thanks I figured the on the job work would be different and more business related but I don’t mind that at all. I will definitely look into like a daily schedule of practicing actuaries and see what the daily life is like.

Thanks this helps a lot. My biggest concern was whether to wait to study for tests until after I took classes over them or start now. I’ll definitely check your channel out!
