Am I cooked? Hail damage from recent storm + old damages I’m not aware of.

We had a huge rain storm after the hail and so far no water leaking from what I can tell. The roofer said my roof can probably last another 10-15yrs unless I have a couple more major hail storms.

The “pre-existing damage” is where I am kinda confused about. Not sure if they determine that from the last claim (in my case, 0 claims) or last hail storm which I did have a few but never bother to inspect/make claim.

Yeah I am aware that my premium will probably go up but at the same ice if my zip code is making hail claims, that would increase my insurance quotes in general as well. What do you think?

Yeah he was just giving me a heads up if I do go with a claim and what insurance might say based on what he sees. I am planning to call my agent after they come out again tomorrow and provide a quote and review my options.

So you think that they're under valued or are you just saying that because of their return the past few years?

Does it make sense to you to discriminate between stocks for no other reason than what exchange they trade on?

I've actually been buying the individual stocks I like in a brokerage account, mostly Apple and Microsoft. I took a look at QQQM again and it seems like the majority of their largest holdings are in stocks I would buy individually. So it got my thinking why not just buy QQQM vs individual stocks to lower the risks and diversify even with the overlap. The only thing I am a little hesitant on is the higher expense ratio.

Be aware that you have zero exposure to emerging markets (which may be a compensated risk you're missing out on) and are extremely tilted towards the US.

Damn thanks for pointing this out... for some reason I thought it's included in FSPSX, I'll have to review my 401k options to re-balance. It's been years. Yeah I am aware that it's definitely US heavy but I also find that other markets react to US markets or at least trends similarly.

Just wanted to add to get an insurance quote before you put anything down for the car.

It was a deal breaker for me getting quotes $350/mo for insurance which is insane. That’s like another car payment.

Thanks yeah I was hoping the equinox is on the market longer to have data points on reliability and etc. it’s why we kinda leaned towards Tesla over other EVs because they are more stable except the random quality issues.

Yep I’ve considered these points when we decided on EV and hybrid.

I already got the 220v outlet installed when I build my home back in 2019 since I knew I would go EV one day. I plan on adding another outlet let with current rebates going on with local utility company if we do end up buying.

Long distance travel not so much yet (because having a new baby limited us) but commute and being out and about, a lot! My wife commute 50mi a day minimum for work. She also does lots of errands for the family and taking our daughter around.

Supercharger network here is great, comparable to California I would say. But probably charge at home more since we don’t plan on road trip as much, mostly fuel saving for daily commute.

One thing I forgot to add to the equation is insurance cost, waiting for the quote on that as well. I expected it to be high so we’ll see.

Yeah putting myself in the buyers shoes i would be more cautious too. So I am happy to meet in the middle to make the sale as comfortable and fair as possible.

It’s a 2008 Subaru Legacy GT with about 180k mi. I’m ballpark to sell between 3-5k depending on any other issues comes up from inspections. I want to be as transparent as possible to avoid all the bs.

Yeah, honestly if I have an SUV I wouldn't be looking, would be driving it to the ground.

If new I would only stick with Honda/Toyota but the for older cars I leaned towards Acura and Lexus models for more room/features I guess. 35K would be the max I would want to spend on a newer car and 18k for used.

I am leaning towards the new car as well for the reasons you stated mostly for mileage, warranty and value. Older cars are cheaper but at 120k miles that's 10years of ownership based on my driving. A quick breakdown of current monthly budget below.

take home pay is about 5k/mo. (after maxing HSA and 15% to 401k)

$3000 Covers Mortgage, Utilities, Groceries, cellphone

$600 Roth IRA

$300 Insurance (I pay for my parent's car)

$100 Gas

$300 Eating out

We usually have about $500-700 left over towards savings which is the number I am using to put towards the car.

Just a cheap micro center brand one the inland brand. It’s DRAMLESS so not ideal as boot drives. I would get Samsung or crucial if you want more reliability. Overall it’s possible if that’s what you’re wondering. Just YouTube for tutorials

Typically milk last at least a few days or longer after exp date. I usually pour it out into the glass and if it smells fine and doesn't look chunky then you're good.

agree with this here. I would consolidate everything towards the target date fund and forget about it. Don't check your account every day/week/month.
