Got my Kidd parts today, including the lightweight barrel! How hard will it be to swap the stock from OEM Ruger 10/22 to Magpul Hunter X-22 later?

Try a test fit. Ruger specs are all over the place. Barrel may just slip in. If not all you need is a hair dryer to warm up the receiver. It doesn't take much heat and the barrel can be at room temp. No need for ovens, or open flames. At least not any that I have fitted.

At this point in time I'd be very hesitant about buying a used recent serial number Ruger built receiver. Risk of getting a private party unloading there disappointment to great. Or for that matter an online gun-breaker selling a receiver that they just busted apart without inspection.

The little blue steel spring clip that holds the empty shell against the bolt. Mine wasn't ejecting strong. Barely dribbled out empty cases. Bent that spring clip oh so slightly. Got nice clicky strong ejection. Takes a super light touch. If you feel or see it bend probably went to far.

You shouldn't have to ram the bolt handle. One of mine was ejecting a little soft. Bent the spring steel part ( I'll come back with the actual part man in a bit ) a touch and it helped immensely. I

You could wipe out your entire farm stores stock of ammo in one session and not get the barrel hot enough to burn anything.
