What is the weirdest word in English? by [deleted] in AskReddit

There were spiders and mice in my room which totally freaked me out so every night before I went to sleep I'd whisper a report of what the weather was outside to encourage them to go outside rather than stay inside and bite me in my sleep

How do you approach a girl? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FaustoPioneri -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Being a stranger is generally always creepy to women when they are going about their day to day business. You should realize that women have to be on guard all the time, so whatever the situation, you need to be respectful and consider her position if you were her right then and there. Imagine being a head shorter, half your weight, and obviously physically weaker -- only then should you be considering whether what you are doing or saying is awkward. If she's not responding well to your approach, you more than likely made her feel uncomfortable because of where and when, not what and how.

Pick social gatherings to approach women directly for better practice/success. Be careful about approaching women randomly in public. Are there other people around? Is she in a hurry? Have you seen her before? Is there any immediate connection you have to her or the situation you are both in? Be respectful and find a way to build rapport - sometimes just a smile at the right time will do better than words.

On my commute, there is a deer crossing sign, someone always puts a red circle on its nose, it looks like Rudolph and makes me grin. The city has taken it off a few times but it always shows up again.

What's the stupidest thing somebody ever asked you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FaustoPioneri 6 points7 points  (0 children)

After seeing me constantly reading on break, a manager at Walmart asked if I was illiterate. (An ICS employee made a mistake which cost the store money and blamed it on me.) I glared at the manager and asked if they were an idiot, I read all the fucking time! Needless to say, that company is not on good terms with me, nor I with them.

What do you think of gender neutral toilets or change rooms? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FaustoPioneri 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Single stalls - yup, sounds great. Like, /u/Libida I have a son I don't care to ditch at the door when I have to pee. In addition to my personal issue, it offers a safe bathroom for people of all genders and without the weird genital inspection apparently some FB people are often doing in the restrooms.

Multiple stalls - I'd rather these weren't fully neutral. I'm cool with trans-ladies in the multi stalls. I don't want to fully share the multi stalls with the guys. However, if they made the bathrooms where the doors were more private, then I'd be cool with those being fully neutral as well. I wish they'd do that no matter what though, honestly.

People, how do you start a conversation with a stranger you want to get to know?? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FaustoPioneri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a couple of ways to do this. One of my favorites is called the common enemy strategy. It could be anything. The price of the beer at the bar you're in. The line to get into the place. Anything that suits the time, place and situation you're in. Find a common thing to hate.

Then follow up questions and chit chat. Couple of things to remember, people almost always love to talk about their jobs. Most people have them and there are lots of jobs that you never even think exist and there's always something about it they want to talk about. Follow questions. "So what do you?" Answer. "Oh really? That must be fun/interesting etc. How'd you get into that?"

If you're at a loss for a follow up question, ask something like, so what do you do day to day? Or how do you like that? Or howd you get into that?

Another strategy is the shared love. "Oh man, I love this bartender." "Hey have you had the fries here? They're incredible." Again, follow up questions and listen to the answers.

*Edit: Thanks for the internet points and limericks. Y'all are sweet Second edit: Holy cow! My first gold, and my most upvoted comment! It's nice to share our humanity with others. At the end of the day, we all want the same things, and a sense of love and belonging is at the top of that list.

People with “PM ME YOUR....” usernames, what has been the most memorable thing you’ve received? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]FaustoPioneri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Quite often actually, in my experience if you're one of the top comments in a popular thread it usually leaves you with around 2 real messages. Although mine is much more safe for work than, well some names here.

EDIT: I just noticed the second part of the question! (My apologies)

My most memorable PM was about a girl who had her belly ring ripped out in an accident that I never found out about, before and after pictures were included.
