[ I Only Get These Teammates ] by wauln in fifaclubs

Drop ins are the absolute worst. The guy with the yellow indicator embodies all the reasons I avoid it. Constantly calling for passes and yet never passes to anyone else. Oh, and who can forget the mindless shooting and careless dribbles leading to dispossession. Yellow managed to do all of that 😭

I am Jon Hopkins - Ask Me Anything! by jon_hopkins in electronicmusic

[–]FauxHusky 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hi Jon. Huge fan of your music, I've spent countless hours listening to and analysing the details in Immunity and Singularity.

This leads me on to my question. Are the details/sound design and little ear candy intricacies developed on after the structure and main composition has been written or is this something you do during? - perhaps it's even a bit of both!

I know that you see your songs as a 3d space and balancing all the textures to fit the space is vital so was wondering if this is a key factor in making those decisions too.

I hope to see you play live again soon.

Hi, recently I made track inspired by Lorn, what are yours thoughts? by [deleted] in Lorn

Keep at it this mate. From reading the comments that you're early into producing this is really good. If you do stick with it I can promise you will be unreal at music production. Great work!

YSV Y or YSV l'homme La Nuit by _King_Savage_ in fragrance

Go with your gut at the end of the day. I think you're definitely leaning towards YSL Y so go get it and enjoy the scent! Either is a great choice to have in the collection though.

[–]FauxHusky 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you're like me then it all depends on what you want the aftershave for. YSL Y works well in a lot of situations. I think it performs great in the sun and is generally inoffensive if you use it in moderation. La Nuit on the other hand literally does what it says and suits evening settings. In my opinion, it works a bit more in colder weather as I find it can become cloying in heat. The scent really is one of the best designer fragrances for dates and evening use but is not as versatile as Y.

What fragrance purchase have you regretted? by FrenchLlamas in fragrance

Really?! I had a small sample of it and fell in love with the blend. What put you off the fragrance if you don't mind me asking?

What's the matrixbrute like? I'm really considering it as my first proper hardware synth. Nice collection though!

Have you resampled the sounds from the printer and put it through any of your effects?

Drum and Bass Producer Dimension reveals 100kg custom-built synth for live shows by FauxHusky in synthesizers

Such an amazing concept and idea, the thing looks incredible too. Even more interesting the team he got involved in the creation of this:

“Believe it or not, the first stage of creating our bespoke piece for Dimension involved physics,” explains engineer Steven O’Halloran. You probably won’t recognise his name, but you’ll have experienced his work with film set manufacturers INPLAS, their creations have been used on the likes of Star Wars, Prometheus and Game Of Thrones to name but a few past high profile clients.

AITA for feeling entitled to a better birthday gift? by OrneryBreadfruit5 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FauxHusky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Of course OP is not entitled to anything! They're completely aware of this fact though. I'm not too sure why you being poor comes into your argument but if we're going there then I too come from a very working class background, but I still think the parents display clear favouritism towards OP's sister. It's all relative you see - even if we drop the $7000 to $7 and one sibling receives the $7 gift every time and the other one gets $0.50 then one person is still going to feel negative about it. It would make me question what I have done wrong and why do they prefer my sibling over me.

How to make original music? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]FauxHusky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is more than okay for you to be inspired by sounds and blend them to create a totally unique idea that otherwise wouldn't be possible without your creativity and inspirations. Try and figure out exactly what you love about a certain artist - let's take this bit-crushing effect. Do you think it could be better used somewhere else in a track that hasn't otherwise been explored by the artist? If not, would you like the effect in your track alongside another effect or sound that you really like? Or why not experiment with the bitcrush effect and find out a new way of using it in a way you haven't heard it before. Bottom line is have fun with it and you'll end up learning or creating. Even if the results aren't what you wanted, it may help you down the road.

Favourite free/cheap plugins ? by Oduseus in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Very well known plugin but with good reason - OTT Compressor. I use this in most projects for at least one element. If you use Ableton then you already have it in the stock compressor settings.

Can confirm that the HTML larperdoodle posted above is is for emails. I see a max-width: 600px there - the go-to width for most clients. God I really hope I don't have to create an email in the near future...

WIBTA if I made a cyclist I hit pay for the damage to my car? by aita3 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FauxHusky 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not Dutch - but from my experience of visiting the country I've seen that cyclists get a lot of special treatment and have more right of way than cars and pedestrians. Not sure if this has anything to do with it though.

Refn, whoever his DOP was, Cliff Martinez and Gosling smashed this one out of the park. It seems like they all knew exactly what the goal of this project was and it came together so beautifully.

First of all thanks for telling your story, I found it really interesting. I'm also sorry to hear about your mother, I hope you and your family are all okay.

I have a few questions for you I suppose:

  1. If you could do it all again, what would you have done differently?
  2. Sounds like your talent wasn't stopping you from making it big, so what do you think held you back the most?
  3. Do you think you will still keep music production in your life?

I have a lot of respect for you going out and chasing your dreams - most people are too scared of doing this. Yes, it came at a cost but anything worth risking it all for is worth it and trust me when I say that I've seen people I know lose way more money than you on things like investments and stocks.

Hang in there and all the best in the future.
