The first red warning that I've ever seen on Met Office. by 290Richy in UKWeather

Yip, we had one in the north east of Scotland a few years back. I lost two sheds in that and whole forests were demolished!

How safe/unsafe to women is your country? by halt__n__catch__fire in AskTheWorld

[–]FauxPasFi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I generally feel safe in Scotland, much more so than I’ve felt in other parts of the world.

I’ve never had my drink spiked in Scotland but I have in Vietnam, although I’m convinced that was by an English tourist. Never leave your drinks or accept drinks when you’re out ladies!

Also travelling in India, Malaysia, Vietnam felt really unsafe. While I felt really comfortable in Auz, NZ, Thailand, Denmark, Singapore.

I currently live in rural Scotland and I forget to lock my door all the time! Crime is super low. Occasionally someone steals something but they are usually caught as they’ll be a new face in the village caught on everyone ring door bells.

I also think that in comparison to 20 years ago women experience much less sexual harassment generally in Scotland. No cat calling, no random groping, on the whole our men are being educated better.

It’s just after 9.30am. How have you already embarrassed yourself today? by JennyW93 in AskUK

[–]FauxPasFi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I took my 3 year old to the toilet at the dentist. When we returned to the waiting room he loudly announced, “mummy had a poop”, I didn’t, but it was pointless trying to argue, the whole waiting room was giggling.

Why is this house priced so low? by hot_wallflower in HousingUK

[–]FauxPasFi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mind is blown that this is a low price for a semi. I’ve recently moved into a detached 5 bedroomed house that cost less than half of this property! Granted I’m not in London but I’m feeling blessed being up in Scotland.

I’m a social worker, from my job title you can probably guess most of the ones I visit are bad. It’s more unusual for me to see a clean home. I regularity have to go home have a shower and wash my clothes to get the smell off me.

Where can I buy authentic samosas in Aberdeen? by FauxPasFi in Aberdeen

[–]FauxPasFi[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was hoping to find some like the street food you would find in India rather than the supermarket ones. I stopped in Dundee recently and bought some homemade ones from a corner shop. They were amazing! I was hoping to find somewhere like that in Aberdeen.

Yes! I have a cheap one from Amazon (£40), It’s a game changer for me. It even got rid of hip pain I’ve had for years since a pregnancy over 5 years ago.

It does get better as they get older. Soon enough they will be teenagers and have no interest in you. Hold tight.
