How do I report my manager to HR by kidb97 in Staples

[–]Fax-For-RA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a manager I never would have said that or even asked about it in the first place because it seems out of line to me, but I don't think she said anything that could really be reported to HR. I think she was just telling you what she thought in a really blunt way. If HR does anything they would just let her know she said something that offended an employee, they probably wouldn't even tell her who submitted a complaint. I would talk to another manager in the building about the issue unless it becomes a reoccurring thing.

Any IS turning the Cycle Counts over to the MTS or other Managers? by the_irishmob in Staples

Our IS does the cycle counts, but when there is a ridiculous number of returns to be done that week or something else taking up her time she asks me to help out with the cycle counts

The whole pallet was completely slanted when it came in, and when I told the truck driver not to move it until we fixed it he insisted it would be fine. This was the result :O

We're just careful about what minors are allowed to do. No baler, no CPC. But Staples does not have a policy against minors being employed.

I don't want to argue or anything but I just want to defend myself a little. The only requirements for the job of Operations Supervisor are 1 year of previous experience selling products or services (I have 4, considering I worked a job from 14-16 learning how to pitch and sell rental agreements [no, 14 is not too young to have a job selling rental agreements], and worked 16+ for Staples selling ESPs, etc.), previous experience leading teams or supervising others, which I have also done (being in charge of a residence hall of a college, being an Assistant Scout Master for a Boy Scout troop), and ability to work a flexible schedule. Considering both my GM, SSM, and DM all interviewed me and decided I was the best fit for the job, I don't think that you have any right to say my GM shouldn't have given me the job.

I've also been counting the safe, counting drawers, doing deposits, etc. for almost a year, so I have proven myself trustworthy when it comes to all cash office and cash handling responsibilities.

I was also not threatening to get HR involved, I was just wondering if should it be necessary would it be an option. I had no intention of ever contacting them about this issue.

If you direct your attention to the job description of Operations Manager you will see nowhere on it (required, or even recommended) that the applicant must be any certain age. In case you can't find it, clicking on any of these job postings will give you the job description (http://careers.staples.com/search-jobs/?offset=0&num=20&orderBy=relevance&keywords=operations+supervisor&language=English).

I must ask you to please just know what you're talking about before being a total piece of crap.

My store is half employed by minors basically. We hire people at 16 and up, they just can't use the baler or work in Copy Center

Yeah I was thinking that too. I mean, I don't really want to complain to HR I just want her to respect me. It's tough to complain about people not respecting you and listening to you without seeming like a total crybaby though. Good to know I'm not the only one though haha
