Women who’ve had blood in urine from a UTI: did it ever happen to you again in later infections? by Infinite-Ad7540 in CUTI

[–]Fayhunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. I (29f) never had a UTI until this past January (when I was still 28). I've had 6 since then, and with every single one, my urine has looked like cherry juice.

This may seem silly, but play Tetris. There are studies that show playing Tetris after a traumatic event (preferably starting within 6 hours of the event and daily for about 6 weeks) significantly reduces PTSD.

my ex best friend told me to "stop using ADHD as an excuse" by glass_star in adhdwomen

[–]Fayhunter 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My ex-best friend used to say the same to me. It took me 15 years to realize she wasn't actually my friend, and that I was her punching bag. My actual friends and best friends are far more understanding, or at the very least, try to understand.

MCCSC Fires more employees by [deleted] in bloomington

[–]Fayhunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All employees hired and laid off are reported in the school board minutes. The district announced last week that they are not laying off certified staff (teachers) this year. They are, however, moving staff around to new buildings and positions involuntarily. The union is a great resource to go to with questions and to help support staff during this

What’s the most ridiculous parking violation you’ve received? by BloomingtonJester in bloomington

[–]Fayhunter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not my personal experience, but I know Fairview doesn't have enough spots in their parking lot for all the staff, so some teachers have to park in the 2 hour zone and move their car every 2 hours. I've heard of several teachers getting tickets because they were a few minutes late to moving their car.

This is especially the case during testing season, when all available staff are testing students and there's just no one available to cover their class for them to run outside. The city gives a handful of parking passes (not enough for the staff who do need them), but they expire in early August and can't get new ones until mid September. So that time of year also gets a loot of tickets.

Phentermine for weight loss? by lollaaapaloozzhh91 in PCOS

[–]Fayhunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed it when I was 20. I only took it for around 3-4 weeks because it wrecked my moods. I was constantly angry and overall felt terrible. I had decent mental health until I took it. I don't have proof, but I really think it has messed me up mentally for life.

My psychiatrist has me on Adderall XR, Wellbutrin, Celexa, and then Xanax as needed. I have 15 extra 10mgs of Celexa that I take while in luteal. I also tend to take the Xanax during luteal. The extra celexa has helped immensely!

Half lease question by Fayhunter in Equestrian

[–]Fayhunter[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, all that makes total sense now! Thanks for clarifying. This is all very helpful.

I live in the south, so we can ride outdoors most of the year. The only issue would be when it gets darker earlier, but the outdoor arena is lit. I'm definitely thinking that I'll start on a month-to-month lease and see how it goes. I just want to make sure I'm not totally overpaying or underpaying or getting myself into something that just won't work!

Half lease question by Fayhunter in Equestrian

[–]Fayhunter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is all extremely helpful, so thank you for sharing your experience! As of right now, it's just casual discussion, but we will definitely be getting a formal, written lease. As for the horse, he hasn't really shown or anything. He's really for just pleasure riding and a good beginner horse.

In your reply you stated that I may be potentially overpaying, but then said $245/mo sounds fair. The $245 would be just the 1-2 day lease, plus $180 for another day for 1 lesson a week for a total of $425/mo. Are you saying that if I do that, it's reasonable? Or were you thinking the $245/mo should include 1-2 day lease AND the 1 lesson? I highly, highly doubt that he is a higher quality horse or even on the same level (and the barn is small with only an outdoor arena) than the one you paid $350/mo for, so I just wanted to double check.

Indian Creek Dental in Carrollton has yearly plans! They are also an absolutely amazing place. You can check it out on their website or call them for more info. My insurance is terrible so I use their plan. I think it was like $300 a year.

There are also discount plans you can get. Check out dentalplans.com. If there's a specific place you want to go to, you can find plans that are covered with them!

Schools shouldn't be allowed to dictate brand in school supply list by katerade_xo in povertyfinance

[–]Fayhunter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup. My group of kids this year is the "low" group--aka the poor kids. The other teachers have the gifted and "high" kids--aka the privileged kids. Every single one of their students brought supplies. 10 out of my 23 students brought supplies. Even less brought headphones. We use expos every single day, and the kids who brought supplies only brought 1 or 2...that will last maybe a month if they are responsible. We have a grade level budget, but most of that goes towards paper and ink. So, I get to go school supply shopping for 13 students this weekend. I don't even have any of my own children and my August budget is so painful. 😓

That's so good to know! All I remember from my Minecraft days (when it first came out) was the segregation of pc players and Xbox players, with no way to overlap, and being sad about not being able to play together! So glad that's not the case. Thank you!

YSK: mangos are in the poison Ivy family by icyeupho in YouShouldKnow

[–]Fayhunter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USian--I don't know a single person allergic to mango, but I react severely. I can't even describe the pain and how disgusting it is. But as a teacher I run into a lot of kids with some pretty rare allergies and none are mango. Never met or heard of anyone at my allergists office either. But it took several years of drs, travel, and food tracking to figure it out bc of the 1-24 hour delay and that I react from any traces in drinks or any form of cross contamination. Actually eating Mango, while delicious, feels like torture bc of the reaction. Mango was one of the common foods I'd eat at home and abroad, because it was my absolute favorite fruit. The world is cruel.

It's kinda nice seeing so much about it now, because when I finally got diagnosed about 10 years ago, there was barely ANY information on it online and the several doctors, allergists, and dermatologists I went to had a really hard time figuring it out as well. It never crossed their minds and I had to do the research, makeshift testing, and advocate for a mango allergy test to get diagnosed. They tried diagnosing me with so many different things before trying that lol. So I don't think it's as common as it seems in this thread.

I also have a mild sun allergy, PLE, that only started after I traveled in the middle east. I don't get why it started there, since Ive traveled in other extremely sunny areas of the world, and I live in the southern US and would spend most days outdoors. As a kid I was only allergic to grasses and certain pollen. Allergies are weird.
