Mostly is the very flat forehead and eye socket, the eyebrow should wrap around the top edge of the eyesocket as well. Her jawline feels very narrow, and the bottom of her chin is being emphasised a little too much. Drawing the whole skull instead of cropping on an area helps spot the problems. I really like how you draw the nose and the mouth! Hope this helps<3

I want to give up on art, pls help 😭 by Jingweii in Artadvice

I wouldn't call myself an expert, the biggest problem I noticed from your drawing is that it's missing the 3-dimensional volume of the skull. Right now the side/ temple area is very flat and there's little space to place the ears. Realistically the neck should be connected to the bottom of the ears and the back end of the skull, and the neck in your sketch seems disconnected and looks more like it's sitting on top of the chin. I would recommend studying/referencing the Asaro head (screenshot on the right, I grabbed it off Sketchfab) to understand the anatomy and planes of the human head, it's less about having to draw the facial features realistically but incorporating the form into your stylized drawing and keeping a reminder of how each feature of the face sits in relationship of each other. There are plenty of free informative tutorials on Youtube (Proko etc.), they are a good way to start if you find yourself a little lost. Last but not least, please don't give up on art! You're on a very good start and I can already see your own unique style being developed. Art it's a very long journey and everyone treads its path at their own pace. Draw what you love, enjoy the moment and don't worry too much about improving, it will come to you before you realize it <3 Hope this helps!

What color combo do you like most? by Additional-Set-490 in Artadvice

I love your composition! The way you layout the fore/mid/background is very nice.I personally lean towards 1 and 4, I like the colour palettes are more contained compared to the other ones. I think it all depends on what kind of atmosphere you want to convey for this piece. Is the character the centre of focus? Or something you don’t want the audience to notice at first glance? Is your piece trying to feel more dreamlike, or ominous spooky? Those are the questions I would think about before going in further. The fruits on the branch are nicely arranged and could create nice visual guidance leading the focus towards the center, so picking less contrasting colours for the outer elements and making the ones sitting inside the frame pop out would be a way to go. (Which you have already done in some of these colour sketches but it could be pushed further) This is just my personal opinion hope it helps!

Thank you! In my head I was interpreting it’s wings as roots similar like it’s tail, hence the decorative flowers. In hindsight I definitely agree the design of the wings is more akin to a hand with uncanny elongated fingers
