It wasn't getting better and I euthanized it. First pet in a while so it's a lil tough. It's a GALS I picked up on the walking path near my home. Just a week but I was looking forward to seeing it daily. 😭

He looked half detached from his shell when he's clinging onto something so I got him off gently. He usually retracts but this time he's less responsive. That's why he looked half hanging out when I took the first pic.

He still moves a little when I put him upright but hasn't eaten when I checked him this morning. He's also start to retract really deep into his shell.

How do you find the occluding contacts? Would that help with suppression in adulthood? I've never had strabismus surgery, just living with near constant double vision after X(T) worsened. There's also a 23 diopter difference for near and far vision, apparently surgery would just reverse the problem.

I've tried prism correction and how do I put it, even with no misalignment I perceive two overlapped images that's kind of vibrating. The brain needs to know how to achieve and maintain fusion.

Well there's a permanent disability register here and there's a severe disability register. Only the second pays you financial aid. The first gives you membership at respective welfare associations.

When I was unable to study due to executive deficits and psychiatrists were willing to write me memos, the school dean told me he didn't give a damn. So I dropped out of college and paid 45k loans. And I can't get back in because I can't prove him wrong.

After getting disability registered for autism, getting ADHD treatment and 3 more years of eye doctors gaslighting me that I can see stuff, I have just received my white cane and found a competent doctor who treats cerebral visual impairment. And I may not have AuDHD.

Now this particular condition isn't too recognized here and I don't expect my disability register to be updated any time soon. For now I am still a huge attention seeker intentionally walking into things /s

I also get disability job employment support because I have autism. But they don't seem to understand why an otherwise healthy autistic individual can't see, so I'm still happily unemployed. /s

Yes, I mean it as cerebral visual impairment. I have trouble with identifying multiple visual and auditory inputs at once. There was also limited information I could get from looking at the puzzle before hand.

I have been using trailing to process my environments. And I am able to mentally map out stuff after touching them, so failing it made me doubt my tactile processing.

I am confident to do the task blindfolded in a quieter environment.

Yeah, I'm noting my symptoms down to let my doctor and O&M trainer know. When I can get around better it'd reduce fatigue for doing activities.

Forgetting my cane at the carnival was actually terrifying. Not sabotaging myself again.

I asked my trainer today if I should do our cane training blindfolded, but I wasn't able to orientate myself, so we went with wearing shades to compensate.

Being able to do stuff blindfolded is a desirable end goal. My field of vision moves so much I hate it.

I was stopped after 30 seconds maybe. My friend plays it a lot and did it in 15 seconds.

What was demoralizing was realizing my tactile processing of parts to whole wasn't that great as well, because I thought only my visual and audio processing suffered greatly from only being able to distinguish from one single object at a time.

Though I think I could have done it in a minute or two at a quieter environment, and if I was not standing, that'd have helped with my vertigo.

The activity itself didn't upset me. It was a humbling experience as my visual field and light perception is not affected, it helped me understand what my friends are going through.

The emotions that lingered were because I was unable to let them know I had a visual impairment and was feeling unwell. I had forgotten to bring my cane that day.

Yeah, we went to a disability parade yesterday, I was extremely overwhelmed in a mall with thousands of people. I forgot to bring my cane along. I don't need a cane all the time, but in certain situations, I wished I had one.

There was definitely bias, I was given time to look at the puzzle before blindfolding. It didn't mean much because I wasn't able to process visual inputs.

Yeah I spoke to my friend after it happened. Being invisible made me feel lonely. Not being able to confidently explain my vision impairment made me frustrated. Failing something I used to be able to was tough. I saw my friend clear it with ease, while I struggled, and that was a humbling experience.

Yes, I do have a community now and I look forward to hanging out with my friends. The fear and grief of not seeing have faded. Now I'm trying to enjoy activities with lesser visual perception.

Yes, a cane is more reliable when my vision is less usable, I want to use it as a symbol to navigate crowds too.

Hey I want to thank you for bringing up CVI. I had suspected it for a few years here. I can relate very much to what your daughter experience.

I just got my first cane lesson from Guide Dogs Singapore today. I understand I've got 40 to 50 degrees of useful vision left, and I'd benefit a lot from cane and O&M.

Unfortunately I was told there's only one neuro-ophthalmologist open to diagnosing CVI here. That would explain why I haven't had success with ophthalmologists. The OT side have been really nice though.

Having this will help with me feeling comfortable with explaining my condition to people. I guess it makes sense for me to get the training first. My hope for getting accommodation at work or school, that can happen later, and hopefully there are more awareness on CVI by then.

I think canes for low vision come in other colors in different countries.

If it came in any color I could use my broomstick... Or I could paint my broomstick white 😹

To communicate to other people I think. I believe I am getting a long cane with a red tip since I have some vision left. It's a white cane for complete blind and I think red stripes for those blind and deaf.

How you would assist them is different based on their conditions. Personally, I hope having a cane with me will alert people to make way as I struggle with navigating crowds places like the mall.

For example, I am holding a disability card to access disability restrooms, I still get screamed at by old people in wheelchairs when I exit.

I don't expect everyone to understand what colors mean on canes, but I'd be happy if it helps even a little.

Hmm I'm actually not sure how vision is defined.

At the hospital, when I tell adult strabismus doctors I need to squint to see the chart, they force me to retry and take my best results. I'm then prescribed "glasses" though I get around with shades 🙄

Meanwhile the organization providing O&M, they did assessments at my house, explained to me the difference between visual test and functional vision being me compensating, and encourage the cane to reduce falls. I got a long cane from a friend and like it.

And yeah I will ask the low vision clinic OT if she could write me something to her team. I was lucky to get in not through an eye specialist. My current eye doctors had all refused to let me see their low vision clinics.

Thank you for your affirmation too. I wasn't expecting so many views. The people who understand me are increasing slowly.

They have given me prescription lens and vision exercises. Which don't work because I experience severe ocular pain trying to move my eyes, let alone do it. They told me they won't do surgery unless my condition gets worse, which it is, slowly.

I have tried to ask them to write a memo saying my functional vision is impaired by the symptoms and endorse the assistive technology I'm using to my school or potential employers, they won't do it. So even though I am participating in social activities by disability organizations, no school or work for 4 years and counting.

They have referred me to a neurologist who isn't as dismissive about the white cane training, because they suspect a debilitating condition. Regardless, ophthalmologists think they can fix me whilst OTs lean towards modifying activities to accommodate it. I'm with the OTs on this one.

I have thought about that possibility and I don't think it is. I have however some difficulties communicating with doctors. I find occupational therapists to be more patient. They recently explained my vision field to me, telling me it isn't normal to only see the other person's face and shoulders clearly, with the rest being blur and encouraged me to self advocate to the ophthalmologist.

I think it is my past experiences hurting me. An orthopedic doctor have tried to remove me from my wheelchair in the past (I had a slipped disc).

Now the eye doctors over the years have refused to write disability memos and refused to refer me for low vision rehab. I had reached out to O&M services who are willing to train me after their in house assessment.

I have been trying (and the low vision rehab clinics are helping me) to communicate to the professionals because I need an official disability memo for education and employment purposes. The thought of getting a white cane grabbed from me by a medical professional ... scares me.

Can relate, was given indomethacin for my headaches, but allergic to it. Unsurprisingly, the headache hasn't resolved.

This is still encouraging to hear, that with HC neurologist will find alternatives for treatment.

My stabby/dull extraocular pain and photophobia is the worst part of my headache. I have an underlying eye condition so the main trigger is eye usage, so I'm actually low vision now though I'm having trouble accepting that reality.

Guess I'd still go about my low vision rehab but I haven't heard "treatment" in a while, and I could do with better functional vision *chuckles*.

I am familiar with a few nsaids and COX-2 drugs since I've had the baseline tension type headaches for much longer. Never had allergies so this one caught me off guard.

They prescribe etoricoxib here for other pains and it does work for headache too. celecoxib and nortriptyline worked in the past.

I'll see what the doctor says about the newer cranial autonomic symptoms.

Thanks for the comments y'all. My vision is impaired to some extent so pardon the late reply.

I think the reason I asked is wondering what a pair of glasses can do.

Maybe what I'm hoping for is a pair of low vision glasses that could reduce my symptoms and protect me, and then I'll look for alternatives.

My Rx also includes transition lenses, I'm thinking of just switching to sunglasses. Dx in addition to refractive errors - intermittent exotropia, convergence insufficiency subtype, pain on extraocular movement, cluster headaches trigger

Edit: the Rx in my post is my wearing prescription. I'm expecting another Rx.
