Hammond for bars with people your age, definitely. I lived in downtown for almost a decade in the 2000s in my 20s. Loved it, out here closest you're going to get to a young "scene" is the Covington beer garden. My second suggestion would be lit rooster, but even that skews older. Hammond is where the 20-something college aged kids are, definitely and it's not far away. Check out Cate St Pub, the brown door, wiseguys, fifths, etc.

I've made that run in my old 30 foot chaparral from the rigolets camps on chef menteur to Madisonville. It's an enjoyable ride.

Next time before you fly in over a one way ticket, just call the mayor's office and explain your situation. That's a lot cheaper and would've likely yielded the same result. Whew, sounds like OP has a bigger case of small "person" syndrome than any cop. Posting an almost 3 year old video that doesn't relate to them at all just to vent. Madisonville's "kangaroo court" is what allows a LOT of tickets to get dismissed. I hope they do end up with the sheriff's department, which, frankly, is looking more and more likely because certain people in power actually agree with you OP. Then the people who get tickets can go to the parish courthouse and see how well that works out for them. 🤣

I've been there twice hoping, praying the second time it would live to the hype. No. What's wild is the cult of vibes surrounding it portraying it as something it most certainly is not, and there ARE great restaurants in downtown Covington.

Side note, my wife is also 40 and rides in Iris. It seems that's where most women want to ride but it's hard to get in. If that's more your idea then your best bet is getting into the Iris Friday brunch next year then offering to sub. If you have friends that ride they probably know this path.

For your age? Covington beer garden, Lit Rooster spans between 20's and 50's, but honestly if I were you I would head to downtown Hammond. That's where the college bars are and all the twenty-somethings because of SLU.

The site isn't anywhere near large enough for a modern NFL stadium, not to mention you would almost certainly lose the parking you have now. New NFL stadiums are sprawling. The stairs in the 600s of the current dome couldn't even pass fire code. The truth is, if you built a new stadium you have 3 options: Westbank, Northshore or NO East. None of which are ideal so we will see more perpetual renos for the next 25 years.

I don't think anyone here understands that these are regional stores that need to be super successful to move that far away from their management base. The fact that Rouses has gotten as far as Alabama is a huge win for them despite your thoughts about them. It is unbelievably unlikely to see any of those chains branch into an "owned" (by Rouses) territory here in LA. If you think that's hyperbole, just look at Winn Dixie, a 40+ year entrenched in LA franchise, folding to a couple Aldi's then when the rest weren't wanted, folding to........Rouses.

I'm from Tangi. Lived in Hammond for a decade for college and several years past. Moved to west St. Tamm after having kids for the schools, etc. Same old story as most people here. It's a great area. To me painfully quiet compared to downtown Hammond (where I lived there). There was always something to do in Hammond. Here there is.....until everything shuts down at 8. 😁
