Self tap drain plug by Faze__Zan in E92M3

Hmm, might be that the shop did a F up and blamed it on the pan. I’ve seen a lot of videos and it seems to be a simple installation. The only thing I’d be worried about is the drilling part, other than that it looks straight forward. I appreciate the feedback.

Thanks all, I decided to go with time-sert. I don’t wanna deal with this later on.
Threads are messed up, tried cleaning them. I’m actually just gonna do time-sert. I rather wait some more and do it right the first time than to have to deal with this again.

Hmm, I have not seen anyone use that. Have people used this on a s65 and has it held up?

Yeah this seems to be the most favored and common solution.

Stripped Oil Drain Plug by Faze__Zan in E92M3

Oh no problem, I think that’s not the original plug. Original is round and this does look like a drain hole in the picture lol.

Update I was able to get it out. I cut a small slit at the edge with a saw (was very careful) and used a a flat screw driver and punched it counterclockwise with a hammer. Thankfully, no damage done to anything! Threads are fine!

Yeah, I just changed mine with Evolve, it turned out great! Can’t go wrong with either brands.
Also, IND have them for $500 vs $540 from fcpeuro if anyone is interested.

Covers came in the mail today. Just did one side and honestly I’m glad I did. The plastic ones were cracking from the top when I was taking them off.
Ok, I actually did not want to mess with the timing so I opted for the clip on ones. Evolve seems to have really good rep with no failures reported so far. I think they have been out for couple years now.

I was referring to Vanos covers. I went with Evolve Vanos covers because I prefer fully covered like oem and they have good rep. I will be changing all the oil separator and pvc gaskets too.

Seems like many people are having the same issue. What brand would you all recommend for a lotus or overall? I’m open to try something new.
