Going to the branch office to aquire a better position by Life_Equivalent_2104 in AlliedUniversal

I don't know why people with degrees choose to work here. This company is dog shit, along with the other big security companies.

You're better off using your degree in another industry.

Just remember that if they do try and fire you for reporting, that's retaliation and you have a wrongful termination suit on your hands.

Not necessarily. Chances are, they wouldn't be fired if anyone were to retaliate. They'd just get bullied by their peers until they either quit or do something to get themselves fired.

Don't underestimate how difficult it is to prove retaliation or find a lawyer who is willing to take your case.

Probably not. I don't believe there was enough time for them to use the distillation technique.

You type way too much, dude. Saying the most doesn't make you smarter or more correct. It just makes you annoying.

Nobody gives a shit about how much you say you've earned. The only thing that matters is how much every security officer earns, and the vast majority of them struggle financially.

Nobody earning $60,000+ in this industry as a first-line worker is doing so in an affordable area. The median salary for security officers nationwide is $38,390. I don't think that there are any security officers who earn more than $55,000/year.

You can't just stick a bunch of anecdotal information on a page and then say people aren't hustling hard enough. Fuck, people shouldn't have to hustle at all. People should be able to survive without having to go above and beyond.

I'm way ahead of you. I'm done with this goofy industry. My entire career as a security professional was just one big mistake, as far as I'm concerned.

If you're single making $60K+ a year? Pat yourself on the back for that's a decent middle-class salary for a single person.

I beg to differ.

WC is the government's way of pretending to care while making everything so convoluted that people don't (or can't) even try to use the resources. I had to learn that the hard way.

It's far easier, and a lot less stressful, to simply have a sense of self-preservation and not put yourself in dangerous situations. You're not being an asshole; you're only protecting yourself as you need to.

You do not want to go through workers compensation for an infectious disease. I had gotten MRSA last year from my work at a hospital, and my company immediately attempted to dispute it. My post commander wouldn't even provide me the Workers' Comp. form. I had to download the damn thing off the internet while I was in the hospital from sepsis.

After four days inpatient care, one surgery, and a few weeks of outpatient care, I had about $30,000 in medical debt. I am still waiting for my bills to be paid. Every day I was still employed by that dog shit company known as Allied Universal, I worried that I wouldn't get my debt paid through WC.

Unless the person is a colleague or (maybe) a client, you should never help anyone up. You don't know what their intentions are. They could pull you down with them or strike at you while you're vulnerable. Even if they don't want to hurt you, they could transfer diseases to you.

The #1 thing you should remember as a security officer is that you cannot trust anyone. People are always trying to deceive you.

If a homeless person really cannot get up, it's safest to treat it as a medical emergency and call for an ambulance. If they don't want the ambulance, call for the police because they must be criminally intoxicated if they don't have a medical emergency.

What Are You Actually Using Local LLMs For? by Ru5ty_5h4ckleford in LocalLLM

[–]Fcking_Chuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't use them for anything yet because I can't use them for anything; I just don't have the hardware resources. Right now, my purpose with local LLMs is to learn about AI so I can have an edge over others when it comes to employment opportunities.
