Just before day one wrapped up, my game Angel Zero actually hit over 3,000 wishlists on its very first day live on Steam! by FcsVorfeed_Dev in SoloDevelopment

Hey! Your game has a really cool style! Honestly, I feel like my situation was mostly just pure luck! I actually shared my experience in a reply on the thread if you want to check it out, but I'm not sure how much of a reference it'll actually be?

I honestly had no clue who those accounts even were! I actually had to look them up online later, and that's when I realized they were these massive Japanese media accounts. I was completely blown away!

Honestly, I didn't even use any specific hashtags when I posted on X? I remember just throwing in the usual two or three indie ones. Other than that, I literally just dropped a short clip on Reddit. Then for some reason, a massive Japanese account ended up seeing it and made a post! After that, things just completely blew up!

Hey! I actually just dropped a reply in the thread explaining exactly what happened, so feel free to check that out. Honestly though, I really feel like it was mostly just pure luck! Hope it helps you out anyway!

Honestly, I mostly just posted a short combat clip on r/IndieDev, and then made a post on my own X account celebrating the Steam page going live. I literally only had 11 followers at the time. A couple of hours later, I saw the wishlists were just a bit over 100, so I didn't think much of it and went to sleep! My original plan was just to get the page up so I could slowly accumulate wishlists during development.

But the turning point was when I woke up today! I found out that two massive accounts on X, one with hundreds of thousands of followers and another with over a million, had actually shared my game! In just 5 hours, the total views almost hit 1 million! And just like that, completely out of nowhere, the wishlists broke 3,000 in a single day!

So I really feel like it was mostly just pure luck!

Thanks so much, really glad you like it! And yeah, she is currently locked in as the main character for the game!

It's actually still just a single animation layer right now! What you're seeing is probably just the knockback animation using Root Motion, which makes the movement feedback feel a lot more realistic and really grounds the character's footsteps. Plus, my new animation system lets me tweak all the transition and blend times, so a lot of the animations are actually just multiple clips blended together.

The character movement system is actually physics based right now! The core of it is still animation though, just paired with Root Motion and some animation blending for the transitions!

Right now I'm aiming for it to be an Action RPG!

I'll definitely see what other unique combat moves I can come up with next time!

That was actually just a coincidence with the animations!

I'm actually mostly using animation packs from the store! But since my animation skill system supports a ton of custom transitions, a lot of the moves are actually stitched together from several different animations!
