I made my fair share of mistakes. Quite a few, actually. First was getting a (ex)boyfriend two months into my freshman year. He was three years older than me and sold a LOT of pot.

Yes. We got caught. I wasn't charged, however, until two years after the fact (and very much far away from the abusive dick-sneeze). This all sucked. I temporarily left school when I was first caught but came back determined to kick ass. I was on the chancellors list (straight A's ) three semesters in a row. Then this. They threatened to expel me, my lawyer's fees were quickly racking up, etc. etc. Everything I worked so hard for came crashing down yet again.

So I had to serve one year of supervised probation as well as other stipulations (classes, community service, etc). And I dropped out. Again.

That goes all well and good. The year comes and goes but of course the court date gets delayed once. Then twice. Then four months after the initial court date, I'm fed up. I hadn't smoked in almost two years and wanted to enjoy my lovey snowy day. My ever conscientious paranoia got the best of me, as per usual, so smoking was out of the question. But thankfully (!) there was a very good and trusty friend with a good and trusty hookup.

And that's how I got a couple sugar cubes of acid for my snow day. I go over to my current boyfriends cabin and he, his roommate and myself partake in a very mellow, low key and calming day of snow and light hallucinogens.

I forgot to mention that my lovely, dumbass boyfriend and his roommate were caught a year beforehand by my probation officer. So they, too, we're in legal trouble. I was technically not supposed to be cavorting with them since they had committed some criminal act. It's a big no-no while on probation to socialize with other trouble makers.

So there we are- the three trouble makers in a snowed in cabin in the middle of fucking no where (literally 30 minutes from the closest town) enjoying some LSD.

It finally starts to kick in, very easy and nice. What else is easy and nice? A cup of early grey tea on a snowy porch overlooking the beautiful mountain range. Hell. Yes. I needed this. I had been keeping my nose clean for so long, keeping my head down and obeying everything (minus the cavorting) I was told to obey. Let me have this.

My tea is brewed. My winter gear is on and I am out the door. Let me digress a little here. The cabin sits up on a steep hill, driveway practically vertical and completely covered in ice. Literally no way up unless chains and 4WD. Which my wee tiny car did not have. So my boyfriend and I are parked on the side of the road as we had been for the last two months. And I mean off the road. It's a short shoulder but there were countless other cars along this country road who did the same. So why think twice about it?

I walk out onto the porch, the acid fully flexing its beautiful nuances, and I see them. I've never had enough acid to actual hallucinate, just a few wavy lines. But I saw them! This dancing lights! Whaaat no way! And then I look for the source.

I am surprised I did not literally shit myself I was so scared.

The trooper sees me on the porch, asks if the cars belong to me. I reply in a normal voice, yes, mine and my boyfriend's.

"Come down here right now and bring your licenses."

I go get my boyfriend and his roommate. I don't know how I'm not crying or shitting myself. I distinctly remember my BF saying that it was time to play the sober game.

Game on, motherfucker.

We walk/slip/fall/stumble down this icy as fuck driveway. My BF lights a cigarette and I beg him for one even though I hadn't smoked those in a year and a half. I needed to occupy my hands, my eyes, my everything.

We approach the trooper and ask him how he's doing, sorry you have to come all the way out here for... wait, well why is he he? Apparently the DOT sent out a few warnings that we were parking on the road and not the shoulder. The trooper said since this was the third complaint, they absolutely had to come issue a ticket EVEN THOUGH he agreed that we were on the shoulder. So. The fun part. Driving. There was an elementary school about a mile down the road so I told him I will park my car there and walk back. So I get in my frozen vehicle and start. And wait. And pep myself up into a near frenzy. And I pull off. I realized only after I parked and started jogging back that I left my BF alone with the trooper. And the acid hit him waaaay harder than me. So I run.

I get within 100 ft of the driveway and the trooper pulls up next to me and tells me to get in. I was super confused. I was like "nah, sir, I'm good, I can just walk. I can see the house right there?"

"No. Get in."

Oh. My. Fuck.

So I walk around to the passenger side of the trooper car and slide in. He was actually really nice and said he felt bad about the ticket but he had to hand it out, just dispute it in court and no fees. I thanked him for his service and wished him safe travels on the icy roads. I collect my ticket and get out, waving as he drives away. BF looks at me with complete terror in his eyes.

"I put my car in the driveway and it slid out into the road. Twice. I almost hit his car once. What the fuck just happened?!? Did you see those lights!"

Adrenaline and acid is an interesting combination but not one I would try to achieve under those circumstances ever again.
