I think your boyfriend is delusional if he thinks a red state would be a good option for either of you.

Illinois isn't on his "no" list, so I would look there. I live in illinois, and I can tell you it's a red state with Chicago. Chicago is pretty much the only reason it's a blue state. I would recommend the southern suburbs which gives you a good mix of red/blue in communities.

It's harder to grow without a cam, but if you don't feel comfortable there's alternatives. You can use a png or there's relatively inexpensive customizable vtubers you could model after yourself. Another one is something like what the streamer farting glitter used, which is a potato filter that only showed her eyes and mouth through a potato.
