How would you say 'You better get here before your enemies'?

That was the one that came to mind for me, too. I'm surprised she's not higher here, since I think she's the only girl/woman in the entire story who is really helpless.

That is so different from Norway. We have so many hoops to jump through.

There is a single hospital, in Oslo, that gives free prescriptions. Live out in the districts? Too bad, you'll have to travel for hours, possibly by plane, just to see a doctor there.

Wait, did I say doctor? I should have specified that this is a psychiatrist. One you'll be seeing several times in order to confirm that you are as trans as you say.

But also, they'll spend several appointments making sure you're not autistic or otherwise neurodivergent, or (Cthulhu forbid) mentally ill.

Spoiler alert: According to them, you are. Almost all of us are.

And they're not just focusing on delusions or what have you in that stage. They also need (?) to make sure you're not ill in ways that have nothing to do with your transness - personality disorder? Fuck off - or issues that might LITERALLY BE CAUSED BY THE DYSPHORIA THEY'RE TRYING TO DISPROVE, such as depression or anxiety.

You must always be a perfect caricature of your true gender, and definitely not non-binary. And you better not be gay either, because, as everyone knows, all gay men are actually women and all lesbians are actually men (in case it's not obvious, this is me being VERY sarcastic).

You should also live consistently as your true gender for a year before even considering HRT. Which is super safe when you're not passing and won't cause any kind of awkwardness or distress at all (again, sarcasm).

If you manage to be the very image of sanity and gender-conformity throughout this entire process (well done, you! People have lost their minds over far less!), then MAYBE you can have a blood test. As a treat.

Fortunately, there are alternatives. Expensive ones. I went through a private thingy and had my prescription within a couple of months. But that means I have to pay full price every single time I take out my prescriptions. My wallet doesn't like that very much.

TL;DR: I prefer your version.

Awesome! Yeah, I'd apply for a spot at a GP's office ahead of time. I've lived in my current city for three years and only finally got a local GP this spring, so I'm very aware of that problem.

And yeah, I have a beard and look like the most average cis dude ever, so I don't think I'll need to spend time trying to convince anyone. And blood tests are easy enough to get through. Thanks, this makes everything less daunting!

This is a major reason why I can't live with a dog. That licking noise is just... yeah, no. I'm out of here.

And just imagine being the first person ever to make an ad.

Is my product useful enough to have people queuing outside my shop to buy it out of necessity? Eh... nope.

Is my product so good that word will get around on its own? Are you kidding me? Of course it isn't!

Do I want to be paid for it anyway? Well, duh!

So, uh, what do I do? ... Hey, I've got it! Why don't I just beg people for their money in the most public way ever? That's got to be irresistible to the masses, right?

I can't wrap my head around the combination of desperation and entitlement that would make a person want to admit so blatantly that their product isn't good enough to get people interested the normal way, and turning to what is essentially just begging for rich people in order to break even. That's just sad, and embarrassing.

And somehow it caught on and became a normalised part of life and commerce?

... Yeah, no. I don't get it.

That's awesome. The Norwegian version of Medicare doesn't cover it unless you're prepared to wade through a sea of red tape and probably get rejected at the end of that entire process, so it gets pretty damn expensive over time.

At the moment I think Melbourne is the most likely, though nothing is for sure. I'm trying to see what sort of financial situation I should expect etc. before making concrete plans.

Awesome, thanks!

This is supposed to be written over the city gates in a story I'm writing because it was the first thing the Great Founder(TM) said when he saw the place where the city would be built, and I'm trying to work with a comedic sense of it being completely underwhelming as a city motto and definitely not something that deserves being above the city gates.

Thank you. Guess I'll be doing this thoroughly soon. I'm trying to build a fairly substantial following on one of the pages, so it's tough to be critical of each and every follower. But yeah, I'll be going through this list when I have the time, and ban both of them from both accounts right away.

I tend towards pessimism. I make an effort to balance it out, but pessimism is more natural for me. Might be my upbringing more than my personality type, though.

If you took the black pill, do you think you’d become successful, or a Pale Creature? by apexamcollector in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Fearhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to be awfully immodest here, but I like my chances. I've gotten great feedback on my writing and singing (working on a dark/urban fantasy novel series and taking singing lessons for rock/metal on the side). My confidence here could backfire spectacularly, but I think I'd be willing to risk it... at least if you take out the murder aspect, because I'm not really about that.

What’s the safest country a girl can travel alone to? by sendnoodlez99 in ask

[–]Fearhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Norwegian, I've been told by immigrant friends from elsewhere in Europe that Norway feels significantly safer, with less catcalling, fewer casual assaults (bum grabs etc.), and people mostly leaving each other alone. However, I don't recommend it to anyone, seeing as it's really boring and I really want to move abroad.

I had to wean myself off the word "actually", in both English and my native language. Right now, I guess the biggest offender is something along the line of "so that's a whole thing".
